A Guide to fast times (CURRENT) (RNG BASED)

This is a guide by Malzar, the current Any% WR holder in S&S1.

This guide is purely meant to be a high str blow bosses off the map build by the time you get out of nine cat build, and it's very RNG based. But when it all falls together, you can get a very fast time. 

Start off your run by putting 6 into str, and 6 into attack, then don't stop putting future points into strength until you're out of bo sun. After Bosun you'll be placing most points into strength but by the time you hit slave driver maybe have about 8 into attack. you should be quick hitting everyone up to this point as well. Right before slave driver you can do a "safe" move by buying a few pieces of armor, or go full reliant on RNG and skip this part.
You aren't exactly strong enough to rely on the extremely low possibility of Power hits to kill him quickly, so this will be a quick attack battle as well. 

Once out of what I call the first "hump" of the run (Slave Driver) you'll still be continuing quick attacks on people, and continuing to put your points into strength with one in attack every other battle or so. By the time you get to Nine Cat you should have a minimum of 10 attack though. This is where you can start your power hit game plan on bosses. You'll also have a high enough attack at this point to start utilizing normal attacks as well. Throw power attacks at him and take him down!

Make a quick stop for more armor and get back to the fight! OR skip it and rely on that beautiful disaster of RNG this game has.

After Nine Cat you'll be focusing the stats points you gain from him and the following fights all into strength. 

The Second Hump of the run. Stylonius. Him adn Slave Driver are hands down the toughest bosses in this run because your stats aren't ever good enough to just chip their health away easily. Stylonius is a special snowflake of fights, mostly rely on power hits to take him down, but sometimes normal attacks CAN blow him off of the map, or pick his health away. Quick Attacks can pick him apart piece by piece but you don't have the luxury of enough health to with stand his HEAVY blows. So try and power attack him away as fast as possible and put the winning points into strength. 

After the next "random guy" battle after Stylonius use those stat points into Attack. 

Pretty much every boss fight from here on out you'll be going for power hits to win them. You can utilize an initial "quick" attack to jump in on them! It'd be silly not to try and get free damage than to use a movement turn to get there instead. But as for random guy battle guys quick attacks are fine! But if you can stop one with a power attack it'l go faster of course. Literally every boss After Nine Cat should be power attack and random guys can be quicks to re-iterate. After the random guy after stylonius you'll be putting most stats into str, but by the time you do gett o he-chaso the final boss have atleast 15 attack.

**Swords and Sandals 1: Gladiator speedrun guide any%**

(re-read after 100 tries or when you learn most of the enemy animations, will make more sense and easier to remember)

3 attack, 9 strength (9 is enough to 1 shot first enemies)

Skip intro

Spacing in first battles will be important, if you both go towards each other 3 times you are in range for charge attack. If that didn’t kill him use quick attacks.

Same for first arena champion, you walk towards each other three times and you are in range to charge. If he jumps once instead of walking just walk twice and use taunt until he is in range to hit. If he jumps once, you are perfectly in range for him to hit you if you walked 3 times while you can’t even reach him with charge attack.

Either charge + quick attack or 2x quick attack will kill him

Go into next fight, hope for easy kill with charge attack+quick attacks

Depending on how much money you have, buy some armor

-2064+ money —> cutpurse breastplate (2nd)

-1834-2065 —> Noob breastplate (1st) + cutpurse helmet (2nd)

-less than 1834 —> Noob breastplate (1st) + cutpurse shield (2nd)

*Bo’sun Smythe*

Go 1 forward, then start taunting (after 1 step forward and him 1 step forward he is perfectly in range that when you taunt him, he charges forward, loses stamina and you can unload quick attacks). If he walks backwards first, then instead go forward first until you are in this range

He often walks back after taking some hits, recover stamina by sleeping here so you can spam quick attacks when he walks back in range.

Utilizing this can make the fight a lot easier, since you don’t want a ton of early resets.

You can instead try charging him if you don’t want to taunt but wouldn’t advise. First strat in my opinion the safest and fastest way of taking him out.

!!!If you go forward and he jumps, you are not in range to hit him while he can hit you. Don’t taunt here but just quick charge.

Next arena fight,Use charge for high dmg potential and finish off with quick attacks.

Next up will be the breaking point of a lot of runs,

*The slave driver*

Remember, if you die it’s best to die fast. Don’t be afraid and charge in, he will 1 shot you most of the anyways.

Start with going forward, ideally you both go forward 3 times, then he is in range to hit with a charge attack. Once you closed the distance finish up your stamina bar with quick attacks, if you didn’t hit any of them with your last stamina, use normal attack. Power attack will launch them too far, normal attack just creates some distance so you can rest and finish him off.

(**most of the time)** If he breaks this spacing by taunting or jumping twice I suggest taunting him until he’s in distance. Try to find openings where he is almost out of stamina to charge in + quick attack. Be wary of your own stamina as well, try to charge in when you can follow up with another attack.

(Most annoying thing about boss fights is they always have a little more range than you, with this being the most annoying boss of all. One where you can’t even hit him and he just one shots you)

If you knocked him back too far and he’s low on hp, taunt does 17 damage at this point. Can always hope for (even more) rng and finish it up fast instead of walking towards each other for 30 seconds.

Enter arena, pray you make it out alive, be aggressive and use quick attack most of the time.

>Put 3 points into strength (if you intend to yeet him) or 1 strength 2 attack (if you intend to charge in and use normal/power attacks to get his health down)

Visit armory (optional, but advised if you don’t try to yeet him)

*Nine cat Jack*

Step forward, then taunt until he is in distance. Use power attacks to hit him out of the arena.

If you hit him and he stays put can always try finishing off with quick attacks.

When you are just not close enough to hit power attacks, just take a step forward first! You get another turn right after, comes in clutch to close the distance a lot.

If you yeeted somebody not far enough the knockback from taunt can make somebody fall off the arena as well.

If he keeps on running away just preserve your stamina and keep taunting/sleeping, he has a lot more agility anyway to close the distance.

Go in arena, finish fight fast

Visit armor (optional, you try to yeet him anyways but if you have time enough and want to play it safe go for it)

*Stylonius* is annoying as hell as he will 1 shot you 95 percent of the time you get close to him.

You just need to find an opening by going close and taunting or by charging in. Use power attacks to yeet him out of the arena

Sometimes the enemies will be low on hp, so pray for some good rng again
