Let the Ganado Start his Grabbing animation
-
Start spamming “Ready Knife” while walking forward
If successful you will clip through the grabber and avoid the grab all together
This needs more testing but this may be a new strategy or not but I've found it interesting.
The best testing is probably right at the start of the game with the first Ganado. He always comes down the stairs in for a grab attack. While it's easy to dodge him, he would be a reliable way to test this.
i'm working on all difficulties for it now and seeing how we can make it reliable
I believe this has to do more with the direction you're facing than the animation for reading itself. Though it will turn your camera. There are some spots, like the enemy in the castle before the cannons, where looking right causes me not to be affected by his animation as strongly or entirely as opposed to when I look towards him it will interrupt me for Leon to flinch. Similarly it seems the first few seconds almost "flash" a grab section and avoiding that allows you to not get hit. I've done this a lot with corners and vases by just flashing my camera with an aim and they don't pull me in. If not it sort of magnet hands me to them. I'm not sure what causes Leon to push out of a grab animation and keep running, but sometimes he does that instead of them getting both hands on him. It feels nice when it happens, but I don't know how to make that consistently happen or if it is triggered by anything specific. I have always been sprinting during these.
