List of known issues with the cutscene skip mod

Lots of us have been having fun running the awesome cutscene skip mod since it released earlier this year (including me!). However, it does still have some lingering issues, particularly in the B scenarios which don't get as much attention. I'm trying to collect a list of known issues in the hopes of getting out a new update to address them. If you've encountered any bugs, crashes, or inconsistent behaviors in the current version of the mod, feel free to report them here and I'll add them to the list.

The current list of known issues:

  • (Patched) Stairs and ladders don't skip automatically like normal doors; you have to mash through them or you lose time.
  • (Patched) Tyrant can disappear from his final fight in Claire B:
  • (Patched) It's possible to pick up items off of Mr. X while he's still alive

  • Inconsistent cutscene skips with Sherry at the elevator in Irons' office both before going down and after coming back up
  • (Patched) Holding the action button through the cutscene of using the vaccine machine in the MO disk room or red keycard room can softlock the game
  • (Patched) When skipping the cutscene where the licker falls through the skylight in B scenario, sometimes you can move immediately but sometimes you have to wait a moment

here is a clip with blackscreen bug on claire b and u can see how i skip that sherry cutscenen before entering elevator, what is also not always instant happening like in this vod. and when i come back to sherry after g1 is the same bs again rng cutscene skip...

Hey

I had a bug on Leon A: When on Caution, Leon jumps like a licker instead of running. Same thing for Ada when she's with leon in the sewers. In the lab, the scientist zombies jump too, I've never seen that before, anyone knows the way to fix it?

So is there no known way to fix some of these issues? On my Claire B attempts, it doesn't allow me to skip the cutscene with Irons, the one where he gets killed by Birkin. Same thing with the cutscene when putting the fuse in.

@R2D2 That sounds like you installed the "Source Necks" mod that comes with the cutscene skip mod. That's a separate mod that was just included for fun and isn't part of cutscene skip. You should only use the files from "mod_RE2_Door_Cutscene_skip.7z", not the ones in "mod_RE2_Source(necks)_Leon.7z" or "mod_RE2_Source(necks)_Claire.7z".

@Zillionjape I'm working on an update to fix these issues. I haven't encountered that bug with not being able to skip the Irons cutscene. I'll check on the fuse cutscene.

Hi all, on Leon A, I can't skip the cutscene when the doors unlock after using the keycard on the computer....

@R2D2 You need to be holding the run key while trying to skip that cutscene.

Took a bit longer than I hoped, but a patch to address most of these issues is out now! You can find it here: https://www.moddb.com/games/resident-evil-2/downloads/unofficial-re2-door-cutscene-skip-mod-patch

The list of changes is in the ModDB description and the readme, but for visibility, I'll list them here as well:

  • All scenarios: It's no longer necessary to mash action to skip stairs and ladders faster. They'll skip instantly like other doors.
  • All scenarios: At the start of a new game, the timer will always start at 0.00 regardless of when you skip the intro (this was a vanilla bug).
  • B scenarios: It's no longer possible to skip the Tyrant fight by skipping the rocket launcher cutscene after the camera switches to the player character.
  • B scenarios: You can now move immediately after skipping the cutscene of the Licker falling through the skylight regardless of when you skip.
  • Claire B: Skipping the cutscene with Chief Irons in the dungeon on the first possible frame should no longer result in a permanent black screen.
  • Claire B: It's no longer possible to pick up the ammo drop from Mr. X while he's still alive on the 3rd floor of the RPD.
  • Claire A: Using the vaccine machine in the red keycard room will no longer softlock if the inner sliding door is in the process of closing.
  • Leon B: Skipping the cutscene of Leon laying Sherry down in the elevator no longer teleports you outside the elevator.
  • Leon B: Using the master key in the elevator before getting Sherry no longer teleports you to the train with Sherry.

Feel free to continue reporting any other bugs that aren't addressed by this patch, or any issues you have with the patch itself.
