why are you going backwards so much. The little s tap you do before shootin the first orange is enough to keep you on the platform, then you look at the location for the next portal and tap s til it shows up, s again to keep on the ledge, then do it again for the last one.
Basically, in order for and edge glitch to work you first need be behind the portal you want to perform edge glitch on. Say, in this case, behind blue. You know you got the edge glitch if you can look around non-portalable surfaces and your crosshair lights up on some. Not that, if you go to far back, the edge glitch will not work and that after the first shot you will get pushed forwards a little, so you need to reposition yourself again.
I'm pretty sure this is already explained on the tutorial in the "Portal Speedrun Guide" document, located in "Guides".
