For 1 click beginner mode, is holding f2 for constant restarts the main strat? Or will it skip the end screen and/or invalidate the run?

Because I clicked while holding f2, and I got one run where Just a flag showed on screen. I'm not sure if that even was a win or not, but it reset after a couple frames.
