General
Welcome to the Mewnbase Speedrunning FAQ! This guide is here to help both new and experienced speedrunners find answers to common questions about speedrunning Mewnbase. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your skills, we've got you covered! Check back for updates as we continue to expand and refine it.
How do I submit my own speedrun?
Speedrunning is a fantastic way to enjoy Mewnbase in a new and exciting way. Here’s how you can submit your own run:
- Play the game casually first
While not strictly necessary, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the game. Get a feel for its mechanics before diving into speedrunning. - Research and take notes
After your first speedrun attempt, note areas where you can improve. Watching runs by other players can also provide inspiration and strategies. Who knows? By now, someone might have created a guide for your chosen category. - Understand the rules
Read both the general game rules and the rules specific to your speedrun category carefully. - Prepare your setup
Ensure you’re using the latest version of the game. Set the game to HD mode and install tools like LiveSplit (for timing) and OBS (for recording). - Record your run
Execute your run following the category’s rules and aim for your best time. Most importantly, don’t forget to hit the record button! - Upload your video
Upload your run to a trusted platform like YouTube or create a Twitch VOD. These platforms are preferred because their videos embed directly into the leaderboard, but other platforms are acceptable too. - Submit your run
Go to the Mewnbase leaderboard page, click the "Submit Run" button, and fill out the form. - Be patient
Once submitted, your run will be reviewed by a moderator. Verification might take some time, so hang tight!
How do I get help?
Speedrunning can be challenging, but you’re not alone! If you need help with anything—from setup issues to understanding the rules or even tackling a tricky part of your run—you can:
- Reach out to moderators on this page.
- Join the official Mewnbase Discord and post in the speedrunning text channel (you can find the link under the game's name on this page).
The (currently quite small) community is here to support you, so don’t hesitate to ask!
How can I suggest changes to categories, variants, or rules?
If you have ideas for improving or modifying existing categories, variants, or rules, simply reach out to a moderator (like me!). We’ll review your suggestions and discuss whether changes should be implemented. Your feedback is always welcome!
Where are the world settings? How do I play with a fixed seed?
If you’re looking to play a specific run category, such as a fixed seed run, or need to access world settings:
- From the start menu, click New Game.
- Below the big buttons to select your game mode, you’ll find a smaller button labeled World Settings.
Selecting a fixed seed ensures that the world will look and behave the same every time you play (resources, artifacts, weather, etc.).
Why do we have "Fuel Rocket%" and not "Escape%"?
The Fuel Rocket% category exists because the game’s escape feature is tied to a specific number of in-game days. Since this imposes a time restriction unrelated to the speedrun itself, Fuel Rocket% focuses purely on building the rocket and fueling it as quickly as possible.
