MYM Speedrun Recording and Timing

The goal of this guide is to show you how to record, time, and submit a speedrun for MYM.

# **Recording**

PC: 
	Use free software such as OBS, or Nvidia Reflex. Start the recording before loading the outpost and end it after escaping. Try and record in the highest quality and fps that your PC supports. This helps with validation, especially in the 100% category.

Console: 
	Use whatever your console supports.

# **Timing**
Timing is calculated to milliseconds precision with the formula:

(Ending frame - starting frame) / fps of recording

Editing software:
Use editing software that allows you to view the specific frames of your recording. DO NOT use the time stamps that the editing software displays. There are rounding issues that make these times inaccurate. Members of the community have seen success with DaVinci Resolve, Wondershare Filmora, and Vegas Pro. 

YouTube Frame Timer:
	If your submission is uploaded to YouTube and you don’t want to use an editing software, follow the instructions on [YouTube Frame Timer](https://retime.mcbe.wtf/). Make sure to set the video quality to the maximum possible (do not use auto).







Starting frame:
The first frame that the “Loadout” prompt disappears upon leaving the spawn zone of an outpost

Ending frame:
The first frame where any portion of the “Escape” prompt is visible. The actual word escape does not need to appear, only the first sliver of the prompt box.

# **Submitting**
Runs are submitted on https://www.speedrun.com/meet_your_maker

Select the correct map and category that you wish to submit for and click submit run. Fill in the various boxes in the form. Be sure to include the mandatory video link. This can be any publicly accessible video link. YouTube links are heavily preferred but not required. Once a run is submitted, a moderator will review your submission before it is displayed on the leaderboard. 

# **Moderator Verification**
When reviewing a run submission a moderator may take 1 of 3 actions. Approval, Approval with notes, or Denial with notes.

Approval:
The moderator has verified the time submitted to be accurate either by downloading the video and using editing software to frame time or by using YouTube frame timer. The submission is approved and added to the leaderboard.

Approval with Notes:
The moderator has determined that the submitted time is incorrect but the run follows all rules of the category. The moderator will retime the run and leave notes in this format:

*Mod Note: Retimed (Start Frame: XX, End Frame: XX, FPS: XX, Total Time: M:SS.ms)*

Denial with notes:
The moderator has determined that a rule of the game or category has not been followed. The moderator will reject the run and leave notes on which rules have not been followed.

The version of the game the run was completed on. This is found under Settings -> Support -> Version

Version

The number of grapples used by the raider. Lower grapples is better for leaderboard placement.
