I messed around with this a couple hours tonight with some crappy TAS runs.
Without New Kid basically the earliest we can hope for to get past the purple tentacle is from the Ed door bell cut scene when the package arrives. Essentially it would come down to who lags out the game the least to get the door bell the soonest.
I crapilly TASed out a 10:21 without using new kid at all. Then as an experiment I went back and instead of waiting for the door bell, I used the breakers to set up the fred skip and new kid past purple that way. That ended up being a 10:06.
The New Kid seems like it can be really situational... Too much is bad. but some is good.
I noticed when testing that opening the fridge while Ed is running makes him stop in the room he currently is. I never noticed that before, and it seems to cancel out the cheese smell cutscene.
While testing I got a 6:54 using new kid command. The fred talk cutscene feels like the biggest timeloss compared to any%.
Wow, GG on 6:54 Niss! that technique totally smokes my route. thanks for adding the new category. any way we could get elmagnificodep's original 2015 run added retroactively to the board to kind of honor their discovery? it doesnt have a reset at the beginning but i'd move to waive that requirement just this once due to the age and innovation of elmagnificodep's run.
