This Maniac Mansion version has been modded to act like the NES version. So you can enter almost any code at the lab door. Only 0000 like in the NES version is not possible. So we are using 1111 for this speedrun.

The V1 version is quite different and not really comparable to V2. In V1 some ways are longer and some cutscenes take longer. For instance the cutsene in the Lab takes 10s longer in V1 than in V2. In V1 it is not possible to grab the meteor without the suit. And you are only able to open the garage without suit. So you have to go to the garage to open the door before entering the lab.

A new Glitch called "Warp Glitch" found by El-Nino & Phallosvogel in 2007 was used in this speedrun. This glitch is only available in the V1 version. In later releases it has been removed.

This glitch allowes you to warp through open doors, by just clicking on them while beeing in the "kid switch menu".

This saves you a lot of time while warping instead of walking. But switching through charaters becomes tricky some times.

It is also important to keep an eye on which part of the game and how long you stay in the "glitch mode". Because during the "glitch mode" no cutscene can appear and some internal counters are freezed.

So If I would stay in "glitch mode" when walking with Dave up the stairs, Weird Ed would never catch Bernard and of course would not return to his room, where I need him to be caught and thrown into the dungeon.

I used the "glitch mode" as well on Nurse Edna to freeze her shortly to have enough time to open the door.

At the beginning of the game, I choose to use only two kids for simultanusly walking. (It is faster then using 3 of them)

I keep the water faucet open, because there is enough time to finish the game. I think the "glitch mode" is here also an advantage, because it freezes some things in the game.
