I was watching convert muffin at AGDQ 2018 run Any% no sg and was curious about the WR for the run and then I saw Any% sg isnt nearly as popular. Just wondering why that is?

I don't know if you know what spin glitch is, but basically it's a glitch that removes elevation boosting and lets you boost anywhere if you spin with your lightsaber at the right times, as a result, learning spin glitch and developing new routing for it on every level would take hundreds if not thousands of hours, and most runners are perfectly happy with no sg anyways, so not many try it.

If it saves time, it's a free WR unless it's super difficult to pull off in a full-game run like the bug jump (BJ) in Tomb Raider: Anniversary.

Spin glitch takes one movement tech (elevation boosting) and changes it into a different movement tech (spin glitching) and the former is probably more fun due to the planning involved - the latter is just repetitious mechanical execution.

That's why spin glitch got split out into a separate category in the first place.
