As I was wrapping up my Holy Umbrella experience, I wondered what a run would look like if you avoided all the helpful pickups in the game that you could. Problematic, that's how it looks. The compelling aspect of this category is the necessity for some creative boss fights towards the end of the game to make up for the lack of attack and defense power. I had to make this Bird Dance strat for the shark refight to make that section reasonably safe and similarly had to approach the kong refight with a different mentality. This is the most challenging way to play this game. Is it the most enjoyable? Probably not, but it does answer some of the inherent problems of design where you can just tank hits on everything in a casual playthrough.
