Fruit Fall Speedrunning & Routing Guide

# Technical notes:

- Game runs at 20 FPS (0.05 seconds per frame)
- Rotating the level by 90 degrees takes 6 frames
- Rotating the level by 180 degrees takes 12 frames
- Fruits fall with constant speed of 2 frames (or 1 frame if the sped up) per 1 "square"
- Fruit clusters take 8 frames to vanish
- Moves can be performed instantly after rotating, unless the last thing that happened in the level is a fruit cluster vanishing, in which case there is an additional 1 frame delay

# Controls:

- Left arrow - move left (6 frames)
- Right arrow - move right (6 frames)
- Up arrow - turn 180 degrees
- Down arrow - Speed up the movement of fruits from (free time save)
- Spacebar/Enter - Enter menu/Confirm an action
- Escape - Go to menu

**Notation:**

- L - Left arrow
- R - Right arrow
- U - Up arrow
- Number [N] - Repeat a move N times
- Brackets () - Pattern of moves to be repeated

**Example moves:**

- LLRUR means you move left, left, right, up, right
- 3R means you move right 3 times in a row (RRR)
- 2(ULR) means you move up, left and right 2 times in a row

# Routes

These routes were found through a process of brute-force searching and are believed to be optimal.

- Level 1: 3L
- Level 2: U 2(LR) RLR
- Level 3: U 4R 5L
- Level 4: 4R LL RR L
- Level 5: L RR LL 3(LR)
- Level 6: U RR 3(LR)
- Level 7: U 3L RLR
- Level 8: 2(RL) L RR L R
- Level 9: 2(RL)
- Level 10: 3L 4R

# Known glitches (Only for any%):

**Level transition glitch** - This glitch will allow you to start playing the next level without waiting. It can save over a minute in a full run.
Note that if you press spacebar/enter too quickly/slowly, you may encounter a "Time's up!" screen and you will lose a life. While it doesn't lose much time and is still way faster than just waiting, you can only allow that to happen three times, otherwise you will need to restart the run.
There are 2 unique occasions where you can execute it:

- **While entering the first level:**

1. Press space at least 3 frames after the "Get ready" text appears
2. -||- at least 1 frame after that to close the menu

- **In between levels**

1. Press space before the last fruit cluster appears to open the menu
2. -||- as soon as you see the "Level complete" text
3. Execute the steps from the "While entering the first level" section
