There is this mobile physics-based, football themed PvP game named Rumble Stars which I'm considering moderating, but I wanna know whether or not it would be allowed.
As PvP activities aren't allowed, I'd like to only make leaderboards for friendly matches to see who can win the match the fastest, with 2 different categories:
- Single player style, where the opponent isn't allowed to play at all.
- Co-op style, where the opponent is able to aid the player who's going to win by pushing his own goalie aside or by any other means.
As you can see, even though it's a PvP game, my proposal eliminates the randomness of PvP, it would work much more as a co-op speedrun than as a PvP match. Would it be allowed if done this way?
Probably not. They're currently not accepting PVP-based games with no actual story/campaign pve mode, even if the categories were to not be PVP.
@goadiroth 's response is accurate. Generally speaking if a game has no proper singleplayer content, or the proposed categories are PVP/in PVP modes, that game probably isn't something we wish to track.
In my personal (non-site staff) opinion, honestly both those categories sound kinda dumb. They fundamentally remove all the challenge from the game by either removing the opponent entirely, or worse having them help you. Like I feel like you're not even actually playing the game at that point, you're just... "speedrunning" for the sake of speedrunning, if that makes sense.
Thank you for the honest and replies.
Getting a fast win is kind of a big deal in this game, I've seen some players asking what's the world record for it already, but making a ladder category would make it prone to cheating and wouldn't go well with the terms of speedrun.com, so I thought it would be fun to make at least a friendly match competition out of it. I thought about including a training match category as well, in which you play against a bot, but that would be prone to cheating too because anyone can have the nickname of the trainer.
It seems I'll have to find other means to keep track of this "speedrun". I'll check how much the community would like it and how much they'd be willing to work for it. If there are a lot of interested players, maybe I start a Google Sheets file or something to keep track of it.
Once again, thank you :)
