In my personal opinion, there's really no such thing as a "best Speedrunner ever"! Everyone in this community is amazing and special in their own way!
I've always been amazed by the versatility and old activity from @SoloQ
@Akuretaki is pretty admirable with the fact that he's submitted over 14 thousand runs in a little over 2 years.
@Player5. Incredible job speedrunning Breath of The Wild and Tears of The Kingdom. He has had so many WR's and he's probably gonna get a lot more in Tears of The Kingdom.
@Weegee - Top placements in popular games. @Niftski - Only has one run that is not 1st, 2nd or 3rd. @Akuretaki - Almost 14k runs in 2 years. @dha - Top placements in mostly webgames.
@GKO Has only two runs that aren't a world record
One thing I will say is a while ago I posed a similar question but it's a bit differently framed, in the sense that they're the best at their main/famed for game https://www.speedrun.com/speedrunning/thread/valjz
@Tyron18 holds the Any%, World Peace, Dark Side, and Darker side records for Super Mario Odyssey and was the first person to get sub 57 minutes for Any%. @heytherecool also holds the record for All Moons, 100%, and Nipple% for the CE page.
@Vertic One of the greatest flash game speedrunners of all time. He is the fastest rising speedrunner that has ever played Red Ball 1, getting both the 12 level and 17 level records (12 level being especially competitive and active at the top level) only a month after he finished the game for the first time. Currently only 7 runs out of all his 321 runs are not WR, 5 of which were actually WR at the time he achieved them but have since been beaten by someone else.
@relievedliberty will always be my pick, i swear if he dedicates himself to something it WILL get done, he's gotten various records over roblox games and also sm64ds for years at this point, and his effort really shows in every run
So far we have (including some I added): @SoloQ having versatility and old activity @Player5 for amazing BotW and TotK playing @PullMatrox having to scroll down 3/4 of his profile to a run that is not a wr @Weegee being top in popular games @Niftski having one run that isn't 1st 2nd or 3rd @Akuretaki having done 14k runs in two years @dha being top in mostly webgames @GKO having 2 runs that aren't world records, both are 2nd @Merl_ idk why but I'm putting him anyway @Tyron18 being 1st in Any%, World Peace, Dark Side, and Darker Side in SMO @heytherecool having the All Moons and 100% records in SMO @Vertic top in popular flash games @relievedliberty dedicating himself to doing something he gets it done @Odme_ having all but 2 solo world records in multiple mario games @Aymbaut being top player in Bart Bonte and sokoban games @Ericpr46 being a top player in IRL Pringles @Jhay being very far ahead of everyone in Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 categories @CoKoNut being a top player in Moto X3M ILs
This is such a stupid thread lmao. I can't believe I'm seeing myself compared to people like Tyron, Vertic, and Niftski.
Compiling threads like this is pointless. It's just going to end up being a popularity contest, and it's super toxic to compare people in this way. It's impossible to objectively decide something like this, so stop trying.
ANYWAYS, I think a better direction for this thread would be to just shout out a bunch of talented speedrunners in the community. @Touval is one of the greatest glitch hunters of all time. @SHiFT is a Spongebob legend. @Laxxius is one of the most dedicated speedrunners out there, his Lint world record is super impressive and almost nobody knows about it. @Suigi has already cemented himself as one of the greatest SM64 players of all time, despite being relatively new in the community. @susuwi is a speedrunner who managed to hold over 100 Mobility world records simultaneously by sweeping the IL leaderboard. @Facu28 is insanely good at TASing and speedrunning. @Mageism is another speedrunner with tons of extremely optimized webgame runs.
Todd Rogers beats every world record on his first try.
