Tech-less Category Opinions

(yes ik nobody cares) Tech-less will be no backjumps and no wallhop speedruns. Tech-less category will probably make an appearance some time soon but i think there should be frame limits for “accidental” or tactical mini backjumps like the first truss on dark sci facility. You could probably just jump on that or do the wall jumps but things like that, I think should be still allowed in the game or fast runs on maps may look like 2018 gameplay. If these are to be allowed in this category I think the frame cap should be 60 to keep height on them and gameplay similar Thank you for your time, Gamer

I agree but there is no way to detect someone is using over 60 fps on video

Can’t you get like an fps counter on your screen on pc? Xbox and mobile don’t need one as they are basically 60 but I’m not sure if having a newer mobile device which is more than 60 fps, does that go over 60 in game?

I'd say the general rule of thumb is that if you need to climb on a truss or platform to reach a specific higher-up spot, then that wouldn't be allowed.

In that DSF case, I'd say because you can't make it from a normal jump off the top of the truss, that's considered a backjump and that wouldn't be allowed.

As for detecting FPS unlockers, there really isn't any way to tell, so they'll be allowed. You can still get just as much height with 60fps, it's just that it's much more inconsistent so everyone plays on higher framerates. I'm pretty sure mobile devices with higher refresh rates would still run at 60fps, but I don't have anything like that to test it myself

I believe that would be a great category. Though it could be difficult as because since we're so used to these backjumps (Or people who get multiple WR's, like Noly) that they could get a good run and at the end they accidently backjump for a shortcut. And then when they get used to skipping shortcuts, it'll be hard to do normal WRs. Also all the WRs would be a piece of cake as the only factor in Tech-less speedrunning is corner-cuts. Furthermore noone will be really putting much effort since its only cornercutting, even me with my (You could say decent) runs could get a WR, may take some time, but I will. It is a very smart idea and I do believe it would be great. I could definately agree to it being added if at least backjumps were still allowed, and wallhops weren't. Or the other way around, only wallhops are allowed. Also if you're trying to get a WR I bet its going to be only 5 seconds faster than what an average Robloxian would get. Overall I can't say I'd recommend it just yet, but really smart thinking idea!!

The backjumping thing will probably have to do with judgement. Did they do it on purpose? Did it save time? are questions i think could help with "accidental backjumps"

I think it could be way more than 5 second gaps than the average player because of things like practised long jumps and specific jumps. An example is on blue moon because I can think of lots of shortcuts like the long jump in room 2, skipping a lava wraparound, the first few jumps of room 4 are quicker with a specific route and pixel jump at wall jumps will still be allowed so I think it will still be okay compared to other players

@gamersogood2 I actually never thought about that. Now to think about it you're definately right about that. I thought backjumps and wallhops were the only proper shortcuts.

Turns out that wasn’t the best example because I can get it quite often on 60fps

Cuz its a truss???

Yeah for trusses it’s not that hard

Velocity Display

Henlo this is your local FE2 speedrunning mod Nolyswag and I'd just like to recommend for people to use velocity display during runs to maximize the odds of your run being verified (it just helps confirm that your run is legit).
