COMB's Wu Liao Jun Arcade Starter Guide (rough)

Hello, if you're interested in running the game with this character this should provide you with bits of info on what to do.
This guide assumes you're using default keyboard controls

                                                                             -General Knowledge-

Starting off, make sure you have your leg loops down by practicing a bit in 2 player mode, to do a leg loop, you input quarter circle forward(S-->D using default keyboard controls) and kick(J or K) to do the leg fireball, then quickly input the move again with the other kick button, so heavy, light, heavy light and so on. The other thing to know is in order to loop, is you can't start a loop outside of a combo(at least not consistently, so land a standing heavy kick before the loop) and you need to have less than a bar of super meter. The quickest way to go about this is to spend all your meter at the start of every round on the super fireball by imputing double quarter circle forward and heavy kick (S-->D-->S-->D-->K) This super almost always either hits the opponent or forces them to block, while also taking less time than the other supers at his disposal. Once you've done this you're free to start the loop, without worrying about how much meter you have.

Important to learn, doing a combo from round start to finish is often not the fastest way to go due to combo scaling(the longer the combo the less damage each hit will do). Dropping combos on purpose in specific spots will speed up your run considerably, but know when and when not to, I will cover this in each fight's guide.

At the current moment, I don't see any reason to ever hit the punch buttons in a run, so hand placement shouldn't be much of an issue, so you should always be ready to start the loop.

If you are without meter and are trying to start the loop, the best way from what I've done is to run up and do crouching light kick ( S+J) into standing Heavy Kick (K), if they block, simply run up and repeat, most of the time the opponent will be unable to interrupt you in between tries, when you land a hit, simply cancel the heavy kick into the loop. If you're wanting to play optimally, you can react to a hit or block on the light kick,skipping the heavy kick on block (if they block the light kick they will always block the heavy kick) and only going into the heavy kick once the light kick hits.

Catches - Often you will land a super on an airborne opponent, what you can do in most cases, is hit them as they're falling with a jumping heavy kick, then continue the combo on the ground with a crouching light kick into the loop. This is character specific and will be stated in the individual guides

                                                                           -Post Round Strats-

In between rounds 1 and 2, there are various tricks you can use to improve your situation going into the second round. It is worth mentioning that doing things after the round does not slow down the run in any meaningful way, there seems to be a set time in between the rounds no mater what you do, but I haven't looked into this as I feel that these tricks save time regardless for sure.

Meter Dump - A Meter Dump is performed by using a super after the round is over, this is useful for managing your meter level, If you ever finish a round with 2 or more full bars of meter you should use this trick, you can also use it to get rid of all your meter to go for the faster but riskier 0 bar strat. 

Meter Top Off - A Meter Top Off is when you do a leg loop after the round ends, this trick is used when you have just barely under 1 full bar of meter, doing the loop will send your meter over a bar making setup for the loop much easier, as the meter issues won't get in the way of starting a loop

                                                                               -The Fights-

I will not be referring to characters by their names, as I feel nicknames are much easier to remember, I will go in order, since the order is always the same on a run. 


[Plane] - Starting off things are fairly simple. Round 1, use both bars, odds are he won't block them which is a nice bonus. Regardless, drop the combo, the scaling slows you down too much if you combo from both supers. For round two you have 2 options, you can choose to go in with 0 bars to the next round. If you do, just mash crouching light kick at round start and it hope you hit before he does, you can also try to time a jumping heavy kick at round start but it can be tricky timing. The other option is to go in with 1 bar, which is safer but slightly slower. again, the super will probably hit, and this time, dropping the combo is up to you, it's faster to drop the combo but you give him the opportunity to block
I wont go into times for any of the other splits, but for plane, 35 seconds is very good, and anything under 40 is fine


[Train] Stand about one jumps worth away from his at round start, he can be a little unruly with his AI but standing at that distance should keep him from trying anything too dangerous, such as his electric super, which is fully invincible and a big time waste. If you manage to keep him grounded and hit him with the super, dropping the combo is not necessary due to his lower health stat, but can be done to save time but adding a risk factor.
Train can not be caught out of the air


[Nerd] Stand at mid screen at round start, if your supers hit, dropping the combo is not necessary as he has very low health but again you can drop to save a bit of time, I would not recommend it on this fight though.

[Book] The first real hurdle of the run, he likes to use supers regardless of where you stand, and all of them waste a lot of time, and snowman super can almost be considered an auto run reset. Stand at full screen, if your supers hit, drop is optional.

[Car] I haven't yet looked too much into optimization as this split is low stakes, but my current strat is to use your supers one at a time so that they don't combo into each other, then do a loop for a bit before finishing it with another super

[Gouki] Another tricky fight, stand at full screen, if your supers hit, combo him, do not give him a chance to act, if he uses his time-stop super the run is over.

[Dong Dong] Very luck dependent fight as dong likes to block a lot, stand at mid screen, drop the combo if your supers hit, his health is too high to combo without wasting time. If you go into round 2 with no meter, stay about one character length away and wait for him to act, punish his move and start your loop

[Gangster / Michael Jackson] Again, likes to block, so this split can be frustrating, do not full combo as his health is very high. Stand about a jump in away at round start

[Twins] Stand at full screen, combo drop is optional

[Streets of Rage 1] Jump over everyone to the right side of the stage, mash the wave super and hope for the best 

[Streets of Rage 2] Push the closest enemy as far as you can before the round starts, then jump back into the left corner keep using super and hope knife guy doesn't throw the knife

[Streets of Rage 3] Mash super, hope for the best

[Mario] Stand at mid screen, combo drop isn't recommended but is still optional, like with Dong Dong, if you go into round 2 with no meter, stand pretty close and wait to punish Mario's actions

[Violent Dong] All the fights from here can be run killers, so stay on your game, stand at mid screen, do not full combo him, his health is too high, be ready to block from both sides as he likes dashing back and forth, try your best not to get hit by his spin kick super, and make sure to capitalize on all of the openings you get. If you knock him down, do not stand in front of him, he gets a free attack with his getup animation, jump over him after a knockdown to not have to deal with it
Can not be caught out of the air

[Gas Mask/ Terminator] Stand at full screen, do not full combo. Hope his AI decides to be nice and not use his baton or healing supers, if he uses gun super, crouch-block and wait till it's done, you can hit him for free after, the exception to this is that he can cancel the gun super into itself, so be ready in case he decides to let it rip. It is worth mentioning that sometimes he skips the reload animation, but this is an outlier, and what I assume to be a glitch. 
Can not be caught out of the air

If Gas Mask uses his healing super, he becomes vulnerable once he stops flashing, make sure you have 0 bars before this so you can loop asap

[Gas Mask/ Terminator 2v1] The final stretch, at round start jump over Dong Dong and walk back, separating him from gas mask as much as you can, do your thing like in the solo fight and hope that Dong Dong doesn't mess up your loops in various ways, and saves you from supers if you get hit.
Once again can not be caught out of the air
