As many speedrunners know, playing on v40 makes it way easier to hit insane times on qouta runs. The difference from v40 to v47 in terms of loot and difficulty makes it mandatory to run in v40 if you want any chance of gettin the WR.

Getting forced into playing a specific version of this game isnt exactly the most fun. Submissions already ask for the version a run was done in, so why not split 40 and 45+? Edit: Talking about Glitchless

Which kind of quota runs are you talking about? Glitched?

If it's "Glitched" you are talking about, then you have to play on v40 or v45, because the Ladder Glitch is patched in the newer versions.

If you are talking about the "Glitchless" category , then your statement that it is mandatory to play on v40 is not true, only based by looking at the leaderboards. You also have the gift boxes that have been added with the v45 update.

My experience is also that in v49 that I get more runs going. Loot seems "better" than in the older versions. (I have found more toy robots and hairdryers on Assurance playing on v49, but again, it is just my personal experience.)

And if you split v40 and v45+ then the main leaderboard would become very messy
