Any% NG+ Guide

The NG+ subcategory stands for stands for 'New Game Plus', a subcategory that is distinct from the Normal subcategory. This distinction arises due to the existence of a skip that involves data from a previous save. Thus, this guide will go into the specifics of PS for Any%, providing you with insights on how it works.

# Basic Overview

The specific skip for NG+ involves boarding the train as soon as you load into the Railroad Tunnel. To execute this skip, you need to make a new save and exit the game at any point while riding the train. After returning to the main menu, you need to start a new game. Once you reach the Railroad Tunnel section in the new save, the game will automatically place you on the train, bypassing the entire section!

# Tips and Tricks

- If you've previously set up the NG+ skip and decide to restart your run during the first split, there’s no need to set up the skip again. Regardless of how many times you quit during the first split and start new games, the NG+ skip will persistently be in effect.
- If you exited a save while on the train and wish to avoid the NG+ skip in your new game, simply restart your game. Doing so should prevent the NG+ skip from being applied in your new game.
- If you want to set up the NG+ skip quickly, you can execute the command **open rambleyrailroad** into the in-game console. This will place you onto the train, after which you can exit and start a new game with the NG+ skip. Fullbright Guide v1.0.2

# **IMPORTANT NOTICE: THIS DOESN'T WORK ON VERSION 1.1.0**

Utilizing fullbright during runs is permitted. However, this option isn’t accessible through the in-game settings by default. Instead, it requires editing a game file to enable the in-game console and executing a command to activate fullbright. This guide will provide a quick overview on how to enable the in-game console and execute the command to activate fullbright.

# **Getting Started**

First, you want to make sure you have the following text copied to your clipboard.

[/Script/Engine.Console]
HistoryBuffer=help
HistoryBuffer=r.Lumen.Visualize
```

After doing so, navigate to your Steam library and find Indigo Park. Right-click on it to open a menu. From there, hover your mouse over 'Manage' to open another menu. Finally, click on 'Browse Local Files' in this menu.

You should now have a file explorer tab open showing the game's files. From there, click on the ‘Raccoon’ folder, then the 'Saved' folder, followed by the 'Config' folder, and finally the 'Windows' folder. Locate a file called 'Input.ini'.

Once you’ve found the file, right-click on it and open it in Notepad. You’ll notice that the file is empty by default. Now, paste the text you copied earlier into this file and save it. The file should now look like the following image.

# Using the In-Game Console to Access Fullbright

To use the in-game console to access fullbright, first load into a save file. Then, press the '~' key on your keyboard. This should open the in-game console, which appears as a text-input line at the bottom of your screen.

Within this text-input line, type the following command:

showflag.lighting 0
```

After doing so, your game should now look like the following image.

Congrats! You’ve successfully activated fullbright.

# Troubleshooting

For those who don’t have the '~' key on your keyboard or if the in-game console isn’t appearing after pressing the key, there’s a solution. Navigate back to the ‘Input.ini’ file and locate the 'ConsoleKeys=Tilde' line. You can change 'Tilde' to any key you prefer, such as 'K', and make sure to save the file.

After doing so, load into a save file. If you had the game open while editing the file, restart the game. Then, try pressing the new key you assigned--this should open the in-game console!

How to Setup Nohboard

For a top 3 run to be verified, it’s mandatory to have an input display, like NohBoard, for the entire duration of your run. This guide will give a quick overview as how to install and use NohBoard.

# Getting Started

First, go to the [GitHub page](https://github.com/ThoNohT/NohBoard) for NohBoard and navigate to the 'Releases' page.

After navigating to the 'Releases' page, download the zip file from the most recent release (v1.3.0).

Once you've downloaded the zip file, you'll then have to extract it.

After extracting the zip file, a new folder should've been created with this being its contents--you want to run the executable file.

Once running the executable file, this is what default NohBoard should look like. Congrats on successfully installing and running NohBoard!

# Configuring NohBoard

To get started you'll need to right click on the NohBoard application to pull up the options menu. You'll need to click on the 'Load Keyboard' option to access the keyboard layouts.

By default, NohBoard comes preinstalled with the following keyboard layouts:

- Burning Fish
- Haley Halcyon
- joao7yt
- Normal
- quake
- The Core
- wheels
- Games Legacy

All of these layouts have their own 'Keyboard Definitions', which change the keyboard layouts in different ways. You're more than welcome to use any keyboard layout your heart desires, but as a recommendation for which one to use out of the preinstalled keyboard layouts--use joao7yt with the 'clean-black clean-white' keyboard definition.

## Other NohBoard Layout Recommendation

If none of the preinstalled keyboard layouts look good to you, my other recommendation is using a keyboard layout I use in my runs! Here's the [download](https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/scl/fi/8gzn8z7ot0hz14tnpj87o/Input-Overlay.zip?rlkey=mo7zoppn2q65rw0ykcf5ooitf&st=xg04tqlg&dl=0) for it. Once you have the zip file downloaded, extract it.

After extracting the zip file, a new folder should've been created with this being its contents. You then want to move this folder into the 'keyboards' folder that's present in the same folder as the NohBoard executable. This is what the final result should look like.

You should now see 'Input Overlay' under the 'Category' dropdown when loading a keyboard.

When selecting the 'Input Overlay' category, select the following options.

# Recording NohBoard in OBS

So you've chosen your keyboard layout, now how do you record it in OBS? You want to first click on the '+' symbol present under 'Sources'.

After doing so, a window should pull up and you want to select 'Window Capture'.

Feel free to name the Window Capture to whatever you'd like, just ensure that you have the properties for it configured like this--make sure the 'Window' is set to NohBoard.

After creating the Window Capture, it should show up in your OBS display. Feel free to resize this and put it wherever you'd like.

If NohBoard isn't being displayed over your game, please make sure that the NohBoard window capture is ordered above everything else in your sources. You can reorder sources by dragging them or by using the up and down arrows.

After that, you should be good to go with recording NohBoard over your Indigo Park speedruns! Just make sure that you don't close NohBoard so OBS is able to capture it.

# Extra Configuration

**NOTE:** The following configuration section assumes that you went with the keyboard layout recommended above. Though you can still follow these steps to gain a similar effect with other keyboard layouts, just some steps may be different such as needing to select a different key color to make the keyboard have a transparent background.

### Transparent Background

By default, the NohBoard doesn't have a transparent background.

If you'd like to have a transparent background for your NohBoard layout, you first want to right click on the 'Window Capture' that's capturing the NohBoard application and then navigate to 'Filters'.

Once in 'Filters', you then want to click on the '+' symbol within the 'Effect Filters' window.

This should pull up a menu with several different effect filters to choose from, the one you want to select is 'Color Key'.

After naming the color key effect filter to whatever you'd like, you then want to select it and navigate to the 'Key Color Type' dropdown--select 'Custom Color' in this case.

After selecting custom color, click on a new button that should've appeared labeled 'Select Color'.

You want to set this color to whatever the background color is for your NohBoard. In the case of the recommendation given above, you want to select black.

Click on 'Ok' and then 'Close'. From there your NohBoard should now have a transparent background!

### Different Keypress Color

By default, they keypress color for the recommended NohBoard layout is yellow.

If you'd like to have a different keypress color for the recommended NohBoard layout, you first want to right click on the 'Window Capture' that's capturing the NohBoard application and then navigate to 'Filters'.

Once in 'Filters', you then want to click on the '+' symbol within the 'Effect Filters' window.

This should pull up a menu with several different effect filters to choose from, the one you want to select is 'Color Correction'.

After naming the color key effect filter to whatever you'd like, you then want to select it and navigate to the 'Hue Shift' slider.

Mess around with this slider to change the keypress color to whatever you'd like! I have it set to 141 to achieve a purple color.

Click on 'Ok' and then 'Close'. From there your NohBoard should now have a different keypress color!

Improve Visibility of Steam FPS Counter

Sometimes, the Steam FPS counter can be difficult to read. Thus, this guide will provide some methods on how to improve the visibility of the Steam FPS counter.

# Resize Steam FPS Counter

First, you want to copy the text below to your clipboard:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\resource\layout\ingamefpsbanner.layout\
```

Once you’ve done that, paste the copied text into your Windows search bar to locate the file you need to edit.

Click on the file, and a panel will appear asking you to choose an application to open it with. Select **Notepad** or any other text editing application.

Next, find this section within the text:

    font-size="16"

```

To adjust the size of the Steam FPS counter, modify the values **12**, **14**, and **16**. You can change these numbers to any value you prefer, so experiment to find the best fit. I suggest trying values **16**, **18**, and **20**. After modifying the file, be sure to **save** your changes. These changes will be reflected in-game once you load into a game.

# Change Steam FPS Counter Color

Another adjustment to enhance the visibility of the Steam FPS counter is to switch it to high contrast. To get started with doing so, load into any game and open the Steam overlay (**Shift + Tab** is the default keybind). Next, click on the settings gear located near the middle-right part of the screen.

You should now have the settings menu pulled up. Look for the option labeled 'In-game FPS counter high contrast color' and switch it from Off (Gray toggle switch) to On (Blue toggle switch).

Method for last half of Lloyd skip on TCO

For those who are struggling to do the last half of Lloyd skip, I've made a video going over the method I use for it! If my method doesn't work for you, then my apologies--stick to whatever method works best for you!

Setting up Livesplit and the autosplitter

Now that we have an autosplitter (Courtesy of DxtrPog & 1K2C3M), all runs going forward require LiveSplit visible running using the autosplitter. It's quick and easy to set up but if you have any questions not answered here, feel free to ask in the forum or our discord server.

Download LiveSplit from their website and the Any% splits from our Resources tab. Right click on the LiveSplit timer to open the drop down menu and under *Open Splits* select *From File* and open the downloaded .lss file.

From the same menu go to *Edit Splits*. 4 rows down should say "Autosplitter for Indigo Park: Chapter 1 (By DxtrPog & 1K2C3M)". Click *Activate.*

Right click one more time and check under *Compare Against.* Make sure it's set to *Game Time.*

Open Indigo Park with LiveSplit running and start a new game. After skipping the cutscene and loading in, the timer should start when you move or look around. When you pause the game, the time should stay green but stop counting up. When playing through the game, the timer should split automatically and pause the same way every time you're loading and start as you finish. If so, you're good to go! Check the rules for whichever category you're looking to run to ensure you have anything else that's required and have fun!

If the timer isn't starting/stopping, try launching LiveSplit as an Administrator. Autosplitters look at the game's memory to see when they're loading and sometimes require elevated permissions to do so.
