PRACTICE SAVE CREATION GUIDE
THINGS TO KNOW
- will erase all settings and active saves that you've made after creating this save. basically takes your game back in time to when you exported the file.
- loading into a save meant for practice during a run is NOT allowed on the leaderboards and will have your run removed.
TUTORIAL
Step 1. Identify the version of the game you are playing.
this can be done by going to the options menu from the start of the game. check you version number on the bottom left. i will be using V1.0.5(0.21.4.2)
if you are on 1.0, step 2 changes slightly but generally remains the same.
Step 2. Open registry editor
press the windows key and R at the same time. then type "regedit" and press enter.
should look like this. accept the UAC prompt when prompted.
if you are on 1.0.5/1.0.6, navigate to "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DefaultCompany\Project biscuits "
if you are on 1.0.0, navigate to "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DefaultCompany\Project biscuits"
the reason for the file path change is unknown, but it's fun to believe that someone at Artax Games accidentally pressed the space bar when compiling a build, and didn't notice.
congratulations, you can now make changes to your data
exporting
to export your changes, go to the folder and click export. save it as a .reg file, and place it whereever you want, preferably your desktop.
you can now go to where your .reg file is stored, agree to all of the prompts, and practice. you may have to restart your game for your changes to take effect
how to make changes
the important key to be changed is the EpisodeProgress key. you can check the #discoveries channel in the discord for info about some of the other badges

the rest of the key is unknown. i've played around with it and couldn't find much, but this is enough to make a save to practice with.
if you want to be more efficient, i suggest making a .bat file and binding it to a key via software like iCUE (corsair keyboard) to use as a macro. try not to accidentally press it during a run.
