I just use attendant cause camera synergy, but waitress and dog are decent. never used security guard much cause access to bullets is kinda non-existent until later in the game. still faster to just have brooms tbh than to not, less text boxes and you have to buy them anyway to get the waiter and some good items in the overworld.

If anyone wants to run this game, but like wants to kill all the dragons or something, video it, dm it to me, I make category ez.

I'm thinking other category ideas might be like all bosses, 100% (bruh), all trophies, potentially you find how to clip into the shop walls to skip having to walk through the forest and the run gets super short and we split any% to a no oob. but yeah vid 1st

everything in this game is rng. it's great.

no idea what the stats do except competence, which at 2 or more lets you clean up messes without a broom for the price of an additional text box instead of the 10 hp sacrifice. the rest apparently affect the overworld according to oats, the dev. I think he said the thing at the bottom that's like chill or scarred or whatever affects your run away or encounter chance, but he was pretty vague when I asked.

a lot of the glitches in this game ended up being made into features, so like what are you talking about specifically? go ahead and submit your "glitchless" run to any%, nothing's stopping you.

we made no oob, but it's a category extension cause it's just slower any%, you dont skip levels. pretty sure it's just gonna be the same thing, but just arbitrarily not using tech. https://www.speedrun.com/ultrakill_category_extensions#No_OOB

Here's a place to put any meme runs, or runs that don't currently fit into the main leaderboard here. Notably I put a No OOB category in category extensions, which was requested. Currently I have all the messed up eye pain video settings as categories (36p, modern art, indie art), and a few other runs I've seen people do.

Some categories in category extensions may be included in the main board in the future, such as All Bosses or No OOB, dependent on mod team decision, popularity, and further updates to the game increasing the differences between a category and current Any% or All P Rank runs.

If your category does not yet exist: please link me videos of your runs here, in the category extension forums, or through site dm's and they will be added to the category extension board.

Ok, I added Any%. I figure there's no point in single or multi since it's all new game, but I could add that if someone wants a split or does a co-op run.

NG+ would be a 1 stage speedrun so... no :P I could add IL's for this game, but I don't think anyone is going to do IL's for this game.

Most of the movement tech in this speedrun are intended game mechanics. Many started off unintended like slam storage and punching your own bullets, but they have been kept in the game because they're cool. Like Celeste, the game will not teach you about it until later in the game, heck, the game doesnt teach you how to do a dash jump until 2-1, but there's a lot of good dash jumping levels in Limbo. In game tutorials for some mechanics will likely be added in later acts, but for now, watch runs, read the guide, etc.

Other things like the 1-3 oob is not a glitch, but an abuse of the game optimization deloading the room and the door close radius not being small enough. Skipping enemy arena triggers is also not a glitch, please skip the 0-4 final arena, the 0-2 arena (hardest one tbh), and whatever others you can find. The 2-2 explosion boost around the railgun room is also not a glitch, it's like 1-3, the game deloads rooms based around doors opening and closing for optimization reasons and it's deloaded until you open the door (from the wrong side, but hey, lust is a very open layer tbh).

The list of glitches is smaller than you think:

Door Clips: sliding into the level geometry on doors at a slight angle to the left or right of perpendicular to the wall to fall out of bounds. Used notably in 2-3 & 3-1. The clip in 0-1 is similar, however the recent patch made it easier to do, so it's now bordering on intended game mechanic.

Door Checkpoints: loading a checkpoint in close proximity to doors can put the player out of bounds, deload certain floors, and load them in an incorrect place. Was used in 0-2 on patch 1.05, but on the --Early Access-- patch, it is not used in 0-2 due to the end level trigger pipe being given collision; however, the 1st door load is still used to deload the floor. Is used on the current patch in certain 3-1 strats.

Skull Warping: punching a skull key then pausing and loading checkpoint mid punch will let you keep the skull, allowing you to warp it with you to the last used checkpoint. Used notably on 1-1 and 2-4.

Honestly that's it, just 3. If you're planning on doing glitchless runs, please dont limit yourself thinking it's a glitch when it's not.

I dont think there's a difference aside from maybe load times, but I dont have a switch, so I dont know. Oh god, I forgot they added difficulty, uh, I guess I can just make single and multi main categories and have difficulty be sub categories, but nobody will run every difficulty.

I'm thinking just have easy and then add more difficulties if someone has a video for others. I'm assuming easy is the fastest. and the highest difficulty had 3 levels to it -_- I couldn't beat a few of those on max level 3 difficulty, most notably spider crab, with my lvl 100 crab.

So like 4 main categories 1) Any% NG+ Multi Crab 2) Any% Multi Crab 3) Any% NG+ Single Crab 4) Any% Single Crab. Then sub categories for difficulty, start with 1, add more if there's video for it, and PC and Switch same board because it's probably close enough. Sound good?

oh it's for IL's. I can do full game no oob category if there's a full run video, but no oob would only affect 6 IL's. Everything else people do in runs isn't a glitch: slide boosts, slam storage, punching your own bullets, etc are all mechanics and they aren't hard to do, they just need some practice.

Just submit to any% for ILs or kill every enemy with enough style points for P rank. P rank is basically no oob anyways.

Do you have a video of a run of the current patches? I've been busy with other games and haven't been able to speedrun the new patch yet.

I'll move the old categories misc and rename to early access since the new game has more levels and the mechanics are a little different. I can add new categories as soon as there's a video of a run. I'm still uncertain what condition one of the new levels shows up at because I saw it show up differently for my game and a different streamer's. Unsure which categories it affects.

Feel free to add more in the comments, but here's some current tech being used that you might not find from just playing the game.

Grenade/Explosion Boosting: This one is really basic, but runs have been submitted without them. Use the shotgun alt fire on the ground to move fast. Usually you look down while moving forward and it will boost you forward and very slightly up. Also you can use a grenade on a piece of glass above you when you're contacting it/near contacting it and it will break the glass and boost you upwards. There's also the full pump charge/ shotgun explosion boosts faster and can be used mid air, but does more damage. Generally, explosion boosts will move you towards where your camera is pointing if grounded and opposite the camera if airborne or something is in front of you. This trick is ubiquitous, you will see it in basically every level. The Blue does 35 damage, Green does 50, and you have 100 health, so you only get 2 blue, 1 green, or 1 green and 1 blue per checkpoint unless you damage an enemy.

Slam Jump: Do a midair slam, then immediately jump. Gives decent height without having to lose health from an explosion boost. Used most notably in 0-4 to skip the final arena trigger. The downside is it's not the fastest form of movement, but it costs no health and is quicker to perform than slam storage and more useful in lower ceiling rooms.

Slam Storage: Do an air slam and a wall jump at the same time, and as soon as you hit the ground, do a normal jump and you jump very high and fast. It's used most notably in 0-3 for the developer intended skip straight to the boss. It's faster than grenade boosts, but only goes straight up unless you combo with whatever air strafing or shotgun explosion boost you combo with it. it can also be combined with a slide to move quickly horizontally.

Bunny Hopping: Since the new patch, you can conserve momentum by doing more slide jumps when you hit the ground in a small window. Used most notably in the Chapter 2 boss hallways. It can be chained with most other forms of horizontal movement.

ok, figured it out, couldn't really tell which files were the patched ones or not (and I dont feel comfortable uploading the entire game to google drive), so here's how to downpatch in 2020.

go here: https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader you need this external program, it's dumb. create a .bat file within it (new txt file, change .txt to .bat, google how to make the .txt show up if it isnt already), name it what you want. right click edit that file in notepad, put the following:

dotnet DepotDownloader.dll -app 953490 -depot 953491 -manifest 8256888781793129267 -username YOURUSERNAME -password YOURPASSWORD pause

then save. the pause (on a new line) is unnecessary, but if you double click that .bat file and it doesn't do anything, it'll tell you why, for me it didn't recognize dotnet as a command and I had to download NET core from microsoft. Google the error message and you'll find a stack overflow page or something with the answer. Of course, replace with your steam username and password you use to log in.

double click the .bat file you made. If the file runs, you will need to enter your 2 factor authentication password, then it'll download the depot to the folder you have the depot downloader program in. Take all the files in there that dont say depot downloader on them (should be the content folder and below) and replace the files in c>programfiles(86x)>steam>steamapps>common>Carrion

I also went into c>users>teddy(or whatever your username is)>appdata>locallow>phobia>carrion>_steam(a bunch of numbers)>saves and deleted any saves made after august 9 when the new patch came out just to be safe, but not sure if that's necessary.

if it works, the new versions will say 103-release-101-gaacc44a3 (idk if the letter arre correct, the 101 is the important part). that's the old patch. the new patch is 1.0.3-RELEASE-140-gaacc44a3 (they suck ass at patch names). but yeah 101 instead of 140.

that took forever to figure out, this shit dumb, you're welcome.
