freaking butterfly just barged into my kitchen and dive-bombed into the pot of boiling water, guess it's gonna be butterfly flavored pasta tonight, what the heck
i just meant that if you have intense reactions when you speedrun that would be entertaining to watch - i had just been looking at that thread so that's probably why i was thinking along that line
if you're as intense when you speedrun as when you write forum posts that's gotta be quite the spectacle, anyway hope you have a good time speedrunning cause that's all that matters in the end, good luck !
my favorite trick is in Dark Souls, it's a type of fall damage cancel : if you plunge attack a ledge while falling you will be put in a temporary state that allows your character to roll once in mid-air, if you time the roll well you can roll as you land, thus i-framing the fall damage
the rules for Any% current version do not match the timing used for the only run on the board
as someone interested in running this game i'd like to know how to time my run, until then i'll time my runs starting the timer when i click Confirm (new game) and ending it at the lighthouse cutscene since that is what makes the most sense
starting the timer when the player gets control of the character seems a bit of an odd choice to me since the player is in control of skipping the first cutscene and clicking through the dialogue before that
i always feel a certain pride when i find a new skip/strat (even though i'm usually the only one speedrunning the games i run), so i guess there's that
just got invited to a discord server moderated by @Goober that seems to stem from a similar idea, the welcoming page states : "If only you'd been faster... is a welcoming speedrun community for games that don't have speedrun communities. Most of the games we support aren't hugely active as speedrun games, but that doesn't mean they have to stay that way!"
not sure how relevant this is but just in case : https://discord.gg/KeuAPnQ
Converter, the game i've been running on and off for the past month is now on the site : https://www.speedrun.com/converter
It's a 3D platforming/exploration game, one of its quirks is that your movement is dependent on your stats (speed, height of jump, precision of your aim, damage resistance...) that you can increase by picking up orbs scattered throughout the map, which can make for some interesting routing
from what i understand this game is a solo project by a bosnian developper, and i don't think it got a lot of attention so i'd be happy to see more people giving it a try as it is a neat little game (it's available on Steam for 10€)
hope i didn't go to hard on the advertisement, it feels a bit weird to recommend a game that isn't free when most of the games in this thread are
