NorwayFallout 4 can be really weird and do stupid stuff. I too found that coversliding when out of bounds or under ground is much better than over ground, and will not deal any fall damage because it kind of respawns you right above you when under ground. Coversliding can sometimes throw you through objects, due to the area not being fully loaded (im not an expert so i dont fully know myself :D). If you are able to find a consistent setup to get under the ground, then it could really help the run, and if the setup is really good it can even remove PA alltogether due to no fall damage. You can keep looking, you might be onto something here.

When you are done dragging the files from the archive you downloaded into the game folder, run the patch.bat. If you want to run it as administrator simply right-click->run as administrator. If you're on a school PC or something where you don't have administrator privileges (if its your own private PC you have it) then you can't run as administrator. I've done it a few times though, and I've never ran it as administrator and never gotten issues. Just make sure your game is in the same folder as the Fallout4.exe and Fallout4Launcher.exe (Should be (C or whatever disk your steam is on):\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4.
Reset/lower video settings, and if you can try to reset all configs and stuff like that. Try to remove all possibilities for errors. Might also be video drivers.
this V111 slide tends to work for me (might or might not work for you because its somewhat hardware dependant) some notes: 1 you should always hit quicksave before doing it (so if you die you can just continue the run normally with only losing like 5 seconds) 2 Wait a second before doing the slide, dont spam the gun when you get out of vault. IDK why but it works more consistently if you wait like 0,5-1 second after the HUD comes in (so that the camera can calm down and something, idk it just works better that way)
In the video i got launched way into the air on the last clip meaning i had to use some stimpaks. If you do the clip decently and not lose too much HP in the vault you're gonna be good after the slide (if it works like this).
The drawbacks are that you get a bit less xp with not discovering places, so you dont get 2 level ups after killing raiders (you can easily do perks inside sewer when you drop pipe pistol, or somewhere else before goodeneighbour. its best to do it before shopping since you run a small distance.) You also have to discover sanctuary later in the run, since you need it when doing teleporter/tenpines. Idk any ways to make it not take too much time other than run to it from v111 when going to talk to Preston.
Not really a skip nor is it a timesaver, but its a pretty neat trick I found (idk if people have found it before, haven't been around for too long). Basically if you do the slide to fort hagen and you get dropped in water, get stuck somewhere or run out of fusion cores and need to exit your PA, you can kinda easily get into FH with a pistol. Not really useful, but it might come in handy for future routes where you dont use power armor, or you just cant get your power armor over there. Its really easy, and with little practise it can be done in a matter of seconds.
You can get 2x in MoF probably, atleast 2x Buffout. Probably 2x in Shopping, and 1 in memory den. If its easier that way and its not really a time waste, then its a nice safe way. I know its not really hard, but losing 5 minutes on 3 load warps is really annoyin haha
What happened was that when i talked to Preston to get the bomb thing, I was too soon and got him to follow me. That has happened before aswell, so its not a big deal. But of course, this time it decided that Preston would not give me the dialogue and let me continue the run :( Watch out for this when you're running, wait for Preston to talk to you or something.
I started both clips when the "open" text turned dark green, and ended them at the frame where the HUD is completely gone. As you can see, the fade away is just as fast, but it takes a much longer time for the door to open with jet. If this affects load warps, idk but there is a good chance. As you can see with the screenshot from sony vegas, the clip with jet is much longer. You can set the youtube player to 0.25 to see the difference better.
As far as i know, you're supposed to hit quickload either when its fading to black or when the HUD goes away, idk if jet delays or slow down some of those things. It doesnt really seem likely it just depends on what jet slows down and what it dont. As you say though, its Bethesda xD
When running to Museum of Freedom you can set up a coverslide when you're about where the Deathclaw is, and you just do MoF in 3rd person (not any more difficult actually). When on the roof and you have entered the power armor you just pick up and take out the minigun and boom instantly to where the deathclaw is. I don't think you get to kill the guy on the roof though, since you just instantly warp, so maybe you dont get two level ups, but that shouldnt really be a problem since you can do the perks when youre at greentech (exploring gives xp) or one in MoF and one later. You can see it in action on my twitch channel. EDIT: It doesnt really provide a decent time save, since Preston kill many of the bandits meaning less xp for you, and then you dont get to level 3 (and then you just get action boy and not solar powered or vice versa).
I got a crazy idea that if you use jet when doing load warps, it will be easier to hit (since time is slower, and making the time you can hit it longer). I tried doing it myself in institute, and it seems like you have to pretty much hit the quickload key later. I hit the load warps on a few tries, and it seems like its easier, but I'm not really sure if its true or just random for me. Jet is pretty easy to obtain aswell, and losing max 5 seconds getting it so if it works it would be a nice way to secure the run...
I tried to rename one of them to FALLOUT 4, and the other to Fallout 4 but it wouldnt let me do that (probably because the file system is not case sensitive or something)... So, say i want to play 1.1 do i then rename the 1.1 to Falllout 4 and the 1.4 to something else?
I have the 1.1 fallout 4 copied to my desktop, and changing the folder name to FALLOUT 4 didn't do anything.
I copied my Fallout4 folder to my desktop, and did the steps in the README.txt. It all completed fine, but when i launch the game (doesn't matter if its the Fallout.exe or FalloutLauncher.exe) it goes to the launcher and when i hit play it launches the steam version which is the fully updated 1.4, not the 1.13 or something I downgraded that copy to. How do I launch the new downpatched version of the game without it switching to the steam version?
