How to go fast on F1 2019

This guide will give you tips and tricks on how to be faster around the track. This guide will mostly work on keyboard, but on wheel and controller this guide will fully work.

#1 Think about the assists

An obvious answer, but let me explain. This will NOT work on keyboard, as you need traction control at full and ABS on. But if you can manage to drive without ABS, without traction control, without racing line and with manual gears, you can do some solid laps. For the racing line, the next point will come in handy.

#2 Learn the tracks

If you are a newcomer to the tracks of F1, you obviously drive with the racing line. Do it with braking only. The only time you would want the full racing line, is in time trial. But these speedruns do without time trials. Try to get the braking zones in your muscle memory. Also try to remember how hard you have to brake, if you want to go without ABS. Because turn 11 at Bahrain needs a lot less braking presseure than turn 1 at Australia. Get the braking zones and shifting points in your head, then next time you race on the track, your muscle memory kicks in and you (almost) completely ignore the racing line.

#3 Learn to use your ERS wisely

Energy Recovery System, or ERS for short, can be used for an extra boost. Mode 4/overtake is the strongest. But try to manage your ERS along a track. On Qualifying, use mode 3 in the braking zones, mode 5 in the accelleration zones and mode 4 on straights that require gear 5 or higher. If everything goes right, you will run out of the deploy limit just after you cross the line. If you have more ERS left than that, use mode 5 more. If you need more ERS, use mode 3 more. In a normal race, use mode 0 in the braking zones, mode 1 out of the traction zones and, once you have enough traction, use mode 2.

#4 Learn what car is faster on each track

Obviously, the Williams is the slowest on track, no matter what. But some cars are better on some tracks than others. Ferrari might have worse aero, but the Mercedes has less power on the straights compared to each other. The Red Bull has the better chassis, therefor air flow can pass the car better. That's why the Red Bull ring is a lot better for the Red Bull than, say, Hockenheim, because the air flow is less dense.

That's about it. For more tips on how to drive faster on F1 2019, please check the Veloce Esports channel on YouTube
