Capitalizing on shortcuts is okay, but this is not just over the top, that is borderline cheating LOL and I'm voting to have this run removed from the leaderboards. Using the Reset is nothing bad, but using it to gain an advantage chips away the integrity of speedrunning. My opinion atleast.

Just to be clear, this is nothing against the player themselves and I don't think they should be punished in any way, I only think this method of gaining an advantage is unfair to everybody else who's playing and speedrunning in a fair and competitive manner.

A shortcut being used in speedrunning is not cheating. It is making use of something available in the game. It is not against the rules and never should be. This is SPEEDRUNNING, not your typical time attack leaderboard. There is usually the case of glitches vs. no glitches but this is pretty much just abusing the way the level is designed as well as the checkpoint system. This does not damage the integrity of speedrunning, this is in the true spirit and nature of speedrunning. The decision to ban wallriding is more of a decision that impacts the integrity of this board, but that one is in place for the sake of "fun".

Along with this, I mean, it isn't written in the rules either 😳 Another person submitted a shortcutted run very recently and I had a talk about it before coming to the conclusion between us that it's okay.

It's not stated anywhere in the rules that shortcuts are not allowed. Besides, it IS a "speed" run, no?

The best thing you can contact the mods about is a separation of "inbounds" and "out of bounds" runs but even that wouldn't make much sense unless the game is already very competetive in inbounds. I would say no if I was a moderator here.

No part of this video is cheating, as Shin said, shortcuts are an essential part of speedrunning, not only when a racing game is involved. Guy is using the game's mechanics and only that to his advantage and kudos to him because it looks like a somewhat optimized strat.

As long as it's within the boundaries of the game, in speedrunning, anything goes.

seeing it is alright relieves me a bit, i grinded the hell out of these strats and i'm uploading my runs this week
