I think a better way to think about it is that major glitches allows the player to enter the triforce screen without having killed all the bosses and collected all pendants and crystals. If we find a way to kill Trinexx without ice rod, I assume this would be allowed in NMG categories, as long as the same glitch can't be used to skip doing dungeons or killing bosses.
regarding the blue balls, they are a significant time loss at higher levels. 3 blue balls = 24 seconds unavoidably lost. (6 seconds, plus an extra 6 for 3, 7, & 11). so it kinds gives a "normalization" to the times, and a quick visualization of how much of the time was unavoidable. 3 blue balls is the difference between a 1251x and a 1245x.
I understand why those are major, but they are specifically banned in the category that ALLOWs "major" glitches, unless I am misreading the page. Global rule 5 says "All major glitches are allowed" and then category rule 2 says " EG, DG and WW are all banned."
I suppose you are talking about Any% No EG/DG/WW. The category was traditionally Any% No EG with DG and WW being considered a form of Semi-EG, Those glitches were reclassified to be their own thing, so the NoEG/DG/WW nomenclature became a thing. Any% with EG is 90 seconds long. Kinda boring.
We all tend to use our own split files. Most common splits are below. For pendant and crystals, the custom is to split when Link's sword goes up after the cutscene.
Escape (split when the screen stops scrolling at the transition) Eastern Desert Hera Agahnim's Tower (split when the door closes when entering the fight, we split here so we can see execution on the dungeon vs. the RNG of the boss fight) Blue Balls (The Agahnim fight itself, where times vary based on the RNG of the fight.) Palace of Darkness Thieves Town Skull Woods Ice Palace Swamp Palace Misery Mire Turtle Rock Ganon's Tower (Split when Link lands on the pyramid) Ganon (Split when the screen STARTS going black entering the triforce room.)
Does the fully glitched 2-minute any% work on SNES Classic? Might be a fun meme to have in my bag of tricks :D
The hacked version of the SNES Classic uses the stock emulator built in, called Canoe. So the platform is the same.

Hey there. I know what the any% used to be, which was whereyou jump off a ledge, S&Q, then reenter and clip into the wall through all the dungeons. What is that category called now? Saying this because of the new strat that allows you to clip into a ledge and go underneath the level appearingly.
Also, the clip you reference isn't new; it's been known about for quite some time. The optimal route for the category never even enters the castle.
I know, I was asking/requesting the category for this glitch specifically. I thought that two separate ways to beat the game fast should have their own respective categories
Creating multiple categories for different routes of the same category is just bad. Whether you do EG by clipping outside of Link’s house or in the castle with the S+Q method, it’s still EG and it’s still the same category of Any%.
The only difference is the route you take to get the EG. It’s the same glitch, just a different t of activating it.
