UPDATE: thanks to ChristianBaltz, i tested the timings again and i was completely wrong lol. it's probably a little faster to just do the chandelier dialogue! and if there is a difference, it is way smaller than what i measured at first.

Ok! so, to start out, the different switches that can be pressed in the Lighting room affect the narrator's dialogue in two different spots. the first is, obviously, in the lighting room itself, where it actually doesn't change the timing for the door to wildlife preparation at all. the second is in the elevator room, where the narrator will explain to you the consequences of your actions. these dialogues are also very surprisingly close to each other, but I've figured out that pressing the secondary interruptive switch is a little over half a second faster. here are the timings if you want them (a little bit of a margin of error, but it seems large enough of a difference to me).

chandelier option (no switches pressed): lighting - 0:22.2 elevator - 1:00.83

Unknown switch: lighting - 0:22.217 elevator - 1:01.184

secondary interruptive switch: lighting - 0:22.2 elevator - 1.00.167

lasers switch: lighting - 0:22.166 elevator - 1:07.76

I've had this suspicious recently, that walking diagonally (holding down forward and A/D at the same time) could be causing the player to move slower. It might just straight up be confirmation bias, but as soon as I focused on only using mouse to affect the direction I was moving, my times started to consistently get faster. I don't know how to properly test this, but I'm pretty certain it could save somewhere around one second.

this happened during one of my runs, and a few people are trying to figure out what causes it! if you have any information that might be helpful, please let neonjays, onlinewalk3r, or me know! this could be huge for the route, as it can skip half of the current run at most.
