Upated to correct time. For transparency here is the math below:
2:29.49 is the frame the timer appeared.
2:55.86 is when toolbox paused for mission entry.
5:03.98 is when toolbox paused for zoning to post.
26.37 was the time spent waiting on the timer, thus:
4:37.61 is your time + 3 seconds per the rules for we replace all server entries with the static 3 second entry.
Congrats on the run, was a really clean one over all. The desync with enemies and henchman during the cave fight at end would have made me panc, hate when the game does that. congrats again and sorry for the long wait time
1.06 at start 7:54.05 begin mission timer 7:59.27 for timer pause to load in. -1.06 -5.22 +3.0 5:19:31.09
this comes out to be 5:19:27.81
Also follow up note, to check if this is individual, or complete
Note to self, need to double check to meet current timing rules
I think in the instance of a PVP match it follows the same as UWW youre going to have to leave instantly and the time will be manually deducted by mods
I like a lot of this and agree with most of it. I am going to talk with vince and when I drop the voting for the time change for non-tool runs I will reply with more details for creating this as I know multiple people have been interested
I said it wasnt allowed (here) like it "is" in DA1, not that it wasnt :) sorry I apologize for not being more clear. And I am glad I decided to add this since it is going to be approved but even so just wanted to add it just in case for the future. And I agree I dont think its going to make anything drastic happen just might make it a little faster and a little more fun, no idea yet!
Currently, at the time of writing this, this is not allowed like in BG:DA1, but figured I would leave this here in case it is allowed one day to add something to runs. This does NOT involve cheat codes, and this does NOT involve pre-existing characters. This is all based on the one character you create during the run.
Item Duping: Save the game of your new character, but do it twice, so in two slots. Drop your items on the ground you want to dupe, and then import the first save you made of the character, it pulls in the first save before you dropped your items, but into the world state of the 2nd save where your items are still on the ground, thus duplicating them.
Quest Reward Duping: Save your game once, and then go turn in the quest reward that you want duped. Then go make a new save in a different slot. Load the save prior to turning the quest in, but import the save you just made of the character that got the quest reward. Once again, you now imported a character who got the reward into a game state where the reward has not been accepted yet.
Video showing both methods:
How viable?
I don't think sitting around duping things a ton or spamming quest rewards will make things faster, but I do think it could make some more fun tactics for item generation, builds, and speed overall going through the game with some fun menuing and glitches like this to spice things up and eliminate some RNG, by doing this a couple of times throughout the run.
Can we import our own new character? Example save 2 times at the saving station and import the copied save? Still the same new character
edit: this is allowed in bg da 1 too, but wasnt specified in the rules here when mentioning importing
Are there even any glitches/skips or is this speedrun mostly just play it normally and just be optimal with pathing/leveling and get good rng on items?
So I found you can get OOB in baldurs gate going backwards on remaster, i got a good bit of distance but fell into a void eventually, just tossing this here as something to take note of
So that is currently the situation we are in with the current "cut scene skips" which was basically just the small amount of .bik files remade into 1-second black screen videos. It has its own category. However, we recently found out you can just delete that folder entirely (does not really save time since we were already doing this in a more complex way) but it is separate to those who did not do that.
If someone ever manages to actually find a way to skip in-game rendered cutscenes then it would just continue to stay in the cutscene skip category separate from the non-tampered with runs!
Currently, runs are estimated to be around 2 hr 45 min. And that is with 20 min of cutscenes already removed from the .bik files, and with a little over an hour of cutscenes still left in the run. Run would drop to probably 1 hour 30 min range if someone did find a cutscene skip or make one for the non .bik files!
Thank you :) I honestly doubt anything is even possible and we are doomed to 50% of the run is watching people talk lol
Hey, we are trying to find a way to remove the cutscenes from Remember Me as almost 50% of the run is talking cutscenes, and have had a few leads and small progress but nothing that lead anywhere. Below is the reddit post I made on the speedrun reddit for the bounty, the document I typed up about the progress and everything we found so far, as well as the page for the game itself, thanks!

Edit: Traiv added some more ideas/info which I added to the docs and reddit
Still counts from the crash because timer kept going and I could see the loading screen and continuation of where the crash happened to where you started. Also adjusted the time since it is when the final cutscene starts as you stopped it a little while after it ended, congrats! Loved seeing a hunter run :)
This worked for me, but the issue with this is runners won't be able to see the rules for the game unless they do this. I feel like rules are broken on the site and this needs to be addressed
It has been a whole day for me and still no changes.
I am having issues updating rules for some games. I try changing general rules and they only show for one specific sub cat. Not only that, but I have tried changing others and they just simply don't update. I am stuck unable to edit rules.
