Can I come over even if I don't actively play F-Zero anymore?

If you want to play a NTSC-J disc on your PAL or NTSC-U gamecube/wii you will have to either (soft)mod the wii or purchase a Freeloader which removes the region lock.

The characters (kanji) will be all kinds of messed up though because your wii/gc doesn't support those characters.
