So I saw the run of this game at AGDQ this year and loved it and I am thinking of picking up running this game. Just finished my casual playthrough (on Switch) and have a couple of questions about this game.
Why is it faster when played on the older patch? Is the older patch the reason it isn't really run on console? Does the zip work on console?
Really enjoyed the game and looking forward to learning the routes of this game
Until you get the paraglider there is a death void thing all the way along the map. If you try and leave early you get warped back. It's not fall damage, just the game damages you and warps you back.
I agree, as someone who is running the game, even though I don't have any submitted runs, I feel like my opinion should count as much as someone who has 100 submitted runs. If you look at any major speed running communities there is always someone who runs but also has a community of runners and non-runners helping them do routes etc. Also, currently all categories have No Amiibo being used in each WR run. So I think that shows they shouldn't be separated.
People keep commenting on this about how much time save it makes in each category (myself included) but are these estimates or have people ran each category with and without to see how much it does save? I previously commented saying I thought it should be disallowed for Any% purely due to the percentage of the actual run it saves. Like 20 seconds can mean a lot in a 40~ minute run, but like 100 seconds in a 5~ hour run is a lot less of a difference, and a lot of the RNG that is involved in the longer runs I think would discount any advantage from using Amiibo. I think we just need more data before we make a decision. I am currently running All Main Quests, and because of that I think you need Epona, without it you could lose time you need for other aspects of RNG to make it to an average run.
I don't think you can. The dock sends no output when the switch is undocked, so unless you can fit a capture card into the screen then it won't work.
I think for Any% it is more of an issue than say All Main Quests, as saving 10-15 seconds is more of an issue with a 45~ minute run in comparison to 5 hours.
I am running on Switch, hold one in each hand and when trying to whistle sprint I move Link with left thumb and bring right Joy Con over and use right pointer for whistle button.
Will do :)
Overall, what is everyone's opinions of using Amiibo in runs? I don't really mind it personally, but I have heard people saying it should be it's own category. But if it is only saving 10-12 seconds then I think it's okay to keep the categories combined.
Oh. That sucks. Oh well. On to the next idea then.
If you land in the water does it still play cutscene?
Just tried out some ideas there for a quicker route down the tower on the plateau. There is a small ramp that leads to some water just next to the tower. You can jump off and at the last second go into a shield surf and that allows you to avoid fall damage.
That sucks. Found some well placed curves on the wall that allowed me to get down. Need to just find another way to optimise.
Is there kill walls around plateau? I tried in a save later in the game and managed to make it down taking no damage
Even if there is a route that takes roughly the same amount of time that does not involve the glider at least it would save time doing the first 4 shrines.
I was just wondering if anyone knew if you have to unlock the "Defeat Ganon" quest in order to finish the game? I know if you don't you could then beat the game quicker but wouldn't have the paraglider but just wondering if it is possible?
