Ive tried several times to get the wii version to work, but I quit. Is there a way to get the wiiu vc version in japanese on my american wii u? Thanks

Hi, I am trying to get the wiivc version on my wii u. I have the hbc (and I know its installed correctly because I use it all the time), but I cant get the wad to load when I install it on my wii u. I open it and it shows me a screen like this http://prntscr.com/etxgkz No inputs on my GC do nothing, and when I press A on the wii mote it takes me back to the wii menu, any ideas?
