Rules and categories are currently in discussion between me and @Newbrict.
There's a video for 2nd place but not 1st even though both runs are by the same person?
A world record without video is just a world.
I recommend using OBS. Lots of recording options and completely free.
You can still stream with <1mbps upload. 500 bitrate is normally acceptable quality. Theoretically you should be able to stream at 500 bitrate with a 0.5mbps upload.
Other options for local recording are Fraps and Dxtory. Both cost about £30.
The main issue with Fraps is that it has a pretty heavy performance hit on your PC, and Dxtory produces enormous files. I think OBS is the best option.
That's unfortunate.
We only accept runs with video proof that are at a reasonable frame rate.
I have videos of my runs. I will upload and link them to my times within 24 hours.
I don't know why this was rounded downwards. I typically never round times upward. Even if something was a x.99, I wouldn't round up.
Myself and Monkey have nothing against Juke or any of the other runners.
Anyway, times now use milliseconds so this is no longer an issue.
Any form of hovering / item hopping is banned from hoverless. No matter how small.
Yes. Submit the run with the platform as iOS, Android or WindowsPhone, whichever you use.
I concur with all of these suggestions. Could you please update the rules to include these specifications?
I will have the rules updated to specify this.
This may call for the addition of "Singleplayer" and "Multiplayer" subcategories. Could result in some interesting runs.
I'm a bit late to the metaphorical party on this, but I've just added a misc. category to archive all runs prior to the 0.2.0.0 patch.
If you have any old runs before this version, feel free to submit!
Although Snowi is a trusted user and I think it is highly unlikely he would splice a run, (especially this close to the end), I don't think the video meets the standards of the proof we require.
I'd like some more time to think about this; at this point it is likely the time will be removed unless Snowi can produce a video without the choppiness.

I feel like the category names and rules could do with adjusting. It's hard to come up with suitable categories that aren't unorthodox, but I'd like to have a discussion about how they should be changed. Waiting for a mod response first so I know my input is being seen.
You were reading the category name wrong. Not worth worrying about now; the categories seem to have mysteriously vanished, but I still feel inclined to clear things up. The category name was "Normal SBM"; not Normal SMB. "SBM" stood for Super Blocky Mode which is a cheat code you can enter which actually allows you to beat stages faster. Like Jumpy said, strats are never banned, and the category name was referring to the cheat code to be used. I think you just read the category name wrong and got confused.
The current rule set has this cheat banned, and no categories exist where use of this cheat is allowed. Perhaps the mods should consider adding it as a misc. category?
Hope this helped.
I've noticed some new people have taken an interest in speedrunning Trespasser, but have been submitting their runs with only real time attack (RTA) timing and no in-game time (IGT).
It would be much better for the leaderboard to be based on IGT rather than RTA, as it is a PC game so loading times fluctuate immensely.
In order to track IGT for your runs you must do the following:
- Create a new Notepad file and paste in the following script:
state("tpassp6") { bool isLoading : "tpassp6.exe", 0x64B484; }
isLoading { return current.isLoading; }
Then save this as a .asl file.
-
Open Livesplit and create a new layout.
-
In the layout editor, click the + icon then select the scriptable autosplitter under the control tab.
-
Go to layout settings and click browse, then select your .asl script file using a suitable file path.
-
Save your changes and enjoy an automated IGT timer.
Notes:
If Livesplit is not correctly displaying IGT after using this script try the following solutions:
-
Ensure Livesplit is set to display IGT for your splits and timer in both the timer, and layout settings.
-
Ensure the script uses the correct executable name. For example the script shown here uses the "tpassp6" executable as it is intended to be run on this patch.
Hope this was helpful and enjoy Trespasser!
