If you're playing on a Wii, you can record footage with an old dvd player and re-writable dvds by pluging the av cables into the input and pluging a second set of AV cables from the output to the TV. Price shouldn't be too much of a problem since dvd players are dirt cheap and I once saw a five pack of 120 min. rewritable dvds for $5 new.
