Does the character really matter, and is there a faster kart configuration.

Is there a written route for harp% anywhere, and is there a difference on harp for english and JP other than early goddess sword?

I'm starting to get interested in running this game and I was wondering what the easiest category to learn would be(other than any%)

I really want to run this game but I cant figure out how to get the JP version on my wii. I have hombrew but i have no idea how to make my wii region free/get wads/just get MM JP in general please help.
