 SIMPLE SPEEDRUN SETUP (random seed escape, for new runners)

1. Open SCPSL, open the console, and type "CST"

2. Click "create server" in the server browser, then press the red button that appears (this creates a temporary server that only you can join on your computer)

3. Press "force start", then go into the console and type "adminme".

4. Press M to open the admin menu. Use the teleport function to teleport to all of the elevators you will be using (light -> heavy and entrance -> surface) and call them. **You will want to do this after every run, since restarting the temporary server does not reset the elevator's position.** (otherwise, you will be waiting for the elevator every run)

5. Now make sure you are recording. Go to the console and type "seed", then type "restart" to restart the server (or restart through the admin menu)

6. Do your speedrun.

7. After getting a run you like, make sure to type "seed" in the console once you've finished the run and become a chaos insurgent.

**For subsequent runs, repeat steps 3 through 7 whilst recording. Good luck!**

Then find "map_seed: -1"

If you don't have the nondedicated folder, try starting up a local server and the game should automatically create it for you.

# **How to Make Yourself an Admin**

To make yourself an admin on your private server you need to go to:
C:\Users\(User)\AppData\Roaming\SCP Secret Laboratory\config\nondedicated\config_remoteadmin.txt

Then you need to find your Steam64 ID (A common way to do so is to use https://steamidfinder.com/) and replace the template in the file so it looks something like this:

*How to Download Any Version Through Steam Console

1. Find the manifest of the version you wish to download. I made a list of manifests from 3.3.3-12.0.1 here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M-6o7qo_aYz3Wj6sg-bKGq1dFx-BbR0AT4bkaoSCS7Q/edit?usp=sharing
If you need to find other versions, the link to the patch notes are in the google doc. 

2. Press windows key and r.

3. Enter steam://open/console into the prompt that comes up. 

4. Enter the command: download_depot 700330 700331 <manifestID>. Enter the manifest of the version you wish to download into <manifestID>. 
For example, if you wanted to downpatch to version 11.1.5, you would enter the command: download_depot 700330 700331 3274841123143224184

5. Wait for it to download. This may take a while. Once it is downloaded, it will give you a prompt saying, "Depot download complete."

6. To find the files, navigate to your Steam folder and go to Steam > steamapps > content > app_700330 > depot_700331 
If you wish to download multiple versions, make sure to move the SL files out of the folder.

Note: If you get a pop-up that says "can not connect to SL-AC" or similar and force closes the game, go to Steam>steamapps>common>SCP Secret Laboratory and copy SL-AC.dll from the folder and replace it in your downpatch folder.

Some versions (12.0.1) of the game will refuse to boot with the latest SL-AC file. In these cases, disconnect from the internet and the game should function properly. Please let me know if you find other workarounds.

How to set up a dedicated server for 11.2+

# **Downloading and running a dedicated server**
If you have SCP:SL installed you will be able to find the SCP:SL dedicated server in your steam library. You can find it by typing "SCP" into the search bar, as shown in the screenshot. You will be able to run it alongside the game.

# **Setting up the config**
Once you have installed and ran the server by typing 7777 into the console, you will need to close it again and head over to the server files directory. 
C:\Users\(User)\AppData\Roaming\SCP Secret Laboratory\config\7777

Once there you need to open "config_gameplay.txt". On the 9th line of the text file you will find the server tickrate. Make sure you set that value to "server_tickrate: 30" and **do NOT edit any other values**. The only exception is changing the seed for set seed runs.

You can follow the other guide on how to make yourself admin as it follows the same steps, but make sure you're editing the config of your dedicated server.

# **Running on a dedicated server**
Once you have completed all of the above steps you are ready to run your server and connect to it. While the server is running on your computer, go to "Servers" ingame and press the "Direct Connect" button. In the window that pops up type "localhost" and press connect.

After you have connected you may notice that there is no force start button. This is because you must use the dedicated server console instead. Typing "forcestart" and pressing enter in the server console will begin the round as usual. 
You can still use "roundrestart" from the ingame console like before.

Run the first version of the game

First Version on Steam

1. Right click on SCP: Secret Laboratory in your Steam library.
2. Select Properties.
3. In the new window that popped up, click on the Betas tab.
4.Click on the drop-down menu under "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs".
5. Select the branch named "first_version_of_sl_published_on_steam - First Version".
6. Close the window.
7. Wait for the branch to finish downloading.
8. Attempting to play may give an error (missing executable). To get around this right click on SCP: Secret Laboratory in your Steam library.
9. Select Properties.
10. In the new window that popped up, click on the Local Files tab.
11. Click on the BROWSE LOCAL FILES... option. This should open the File Explorer.
12. In the File Explorer window that opened up, run "SCP-Secret-Laboratory.exe".
13. The first version of SCP: Secret Laboratory on Steam should start now.
