Basketball Basic Tips

These are some tips that will help you score more points in the basketball cups, and to stay consistent. These tips are for noobs so dont get triggered if you already know them.

1: When you do a jump shot, wait till the ball flashes before shooting. So, when you jump, when you reach the climax of your jump, that ball will light up sort of, this is when you should through to nearly guaranty a goal, as long as the opponent doesn't stop it.
2: Dont do a jump shot inside the 2 point box. Like, whats the point, just go for the dunk.
3: If you think your combo is gunnu get stopped/blocked. Then just before they get stopped press A to pass to yourself and get the points.
4: Pass more than you think you need to, its better to have the ball and not score, rather than get scored on.
5: If your feeling skilful. Then dont use Z to spin, what you can do is point the stick inn the desired direction and push it round the edge of the area to spin, you have to do this with speed as well.
6: For extra speed. Minimise the amount of goals scored to lower the amount of cut scenes and starts, *can be done by using the special move as a consistant buzzer beater.*

Dodgeball Guide

This is a guide for anything Dodgeball related: 2on2/3on3 and normal/hard.

Having unlocked everything is super useful as you don't accidentaly unlock new stuff (which wastes time) but you can also fight against Behemoth and use unlockable characters.
There is a cheat that unlocks everything, to do that hold the cursor on top of a file and hold C and press 1 three times, then hold Z and press 1 four times, lastly hold both C and Z together and press 1 five times.

# Characters
Always choose Yoshi/White Mage and Waluigi. In 3on3 add Cactuar/Bowser Jr. to them. Here's a explanation as to why we use these characters:

- Yoshi/White Mage: After a ball hits an opponent you can shake the controller, with these two you then have a huge range of getting the ball, even from the opponents field.
.....- Yoshi has a 'straight-line' range and immediately gets the ball. He has a slightly smaller range than White Mage though.
.....- White Mage has a round range and the ball goes through the air before White Mage gets it, the opponent can get the ball mid-air.
.....- You can shake the controller with other characters too, they just can't get the ball from the opponents field unlike these two.

- Waluigi: With Waluigi's special attack you can shoot multiple balls which also deals way more damage to the opponents than other special attacks. All other characters only have one shot (except Ninja but he still has less shots than Waluigi).
- Cactuar/Bowser Jr.: Both are very fast and as such useful on Behemoth's fight. Bowser Jr. is way stronger than Cactuar and as such also useful on Wario's Factory.

# Basics
Whenever you got the ball, try and shoot it as soon as possible. Use White Mage/Yoshi to do so, so you can immediately get the ball back by shaking the controller after an opponent got hit. By using White Mage you should be careful as the opponents can get the ball while it's in the air:

If the opponent got hit or if you get the ball back depends entirely on RNG though it does get more likely the closer you are to the opponent.

If your opponent got the ball, stand as close to them as possible so you can catch the ball sooner. In case they don't focus you (seen by the white circle below a character), stand in between your opponent and the focused character so you get the ball instead of the focused character.
In case another character catches the ball, don't pass it, instead shake the controller and the character will shoot the ball even if you're playing a different character. This also applies to the blue Yoshi.

## Special attack
In every match you should defeat all opponents with Waluigi's special attack as you can skip the "*character* OUT" animation by doing so.
Usually it's possible to hit opponents three times, to hit them four times it requires a bit of luck. The opponents should have about this much HP left when doing Waluigi's special attack:

And always keep attention to how many coins you have so you don't accidentaly defeat an opponent and that you can use Waluigi's special attack earlier on.

## Items
Items can be used in two ways:
- Throwing them (just press B ), this is mostly useful if the enemy has the ball or if you have to waste a useless item.
- Combining them with a shot (hold B while throwing a ball), this can easily hit an opponent depending on the item but wastes about half a second so it shouldn't be used unless it's necessary.

Here's all the items and how they should be used:
- Green Shells should be combined as it's a guaranteed hit but can also be thrown if necessary.
- Red Shells, Bananas and Bob-Ombs should only ever be thrown. Never combine these as they rarely ever hit.
- Mini Mushrooms should be used against opponents with a lot of HP as they shrink afterwards which gives you easy hits. It is worth to note that in Sports Mix (or even Hard sometimes) opponents often just dodge this when combined which basically makes it a huge waste of time.

If the opponents got the ball you can use any of these items to hit them, they will lose the ball afterwards. If you're lucky the ball will roll into your direction so you can pick it up.  
Note: After using an item there are a few frames where you can't pick up the ball, so don't stand *directly* next to the opponent when using an Item.

# Stages
Play normally on any stage that isn't mentioned here.

## Koopa Troopa Beach
Play normally until the wave arrives. Then collect enough coins so you can defeat all opponents with Waluigi's special attack.
It is possible to beat the opponents before the wave arrives which would be perfect.

## Peach's Castle
Once the fountains stop, go towards your opponents and hit all of them until you can defeat them with Waluigi's special attack.

## DK Dock
If you use White Mage, don't shake the controller to get the ball if the stage moves towards you as the ball will likely fly towards the opponents field (there's a gif of this above).

## Wario Factory
In case you chose Yoshi/Bowser Jr. you can use them if the conveyor belt rolls towards you. In case you use Cactuar, keep using White Mage/Yoshi as Cactuar isn't strong enough to consistently hit the opponents.

## Bowser's Castle
In this stage in particular you have to KO all enemies at the same time with Waluigi's special because if one opponent is out their field increases in size which makes them harder to hit.

# Behemoth fight
Always switch to the fastest character immediately (this is where Cactuar comes in handy for 3on3).
Get a meteor by walking on ?-Panels and pass them to the other players. Try to stay close to each other so the meteor doesn't have to travel that far.
During this you should try and get some Items from ?-Panels that are close by. Items do quite a bit of damage and can stop Behemoth from attacking (not all attacks but most) so it's best to not use items immediately but instead right before getting a new item or when Behemoth is about to attack.
Try to avoid standing too close to Behemoth as he can do quick attacks that can't be avoided and usually end with the meteor being destroyed. His tail attack in particular has a huge range so don't stand behing him.
In 2on2 it's best to constanly switch to the character that's not waiting for the meteor to arrive so you can slowly move to get Items from ?-Panels.

Once your special attack is ready, shoot the meteor to Behemoth by jumping and shaking mid-air:

Then get a new meteor and immediately use the special-attack, repeat multiple times. If Behemoth is on low-health (so another meteor would be overkill), attack normally with Z + shaking near Behemoth and by using Items.
If the meteor gets destroyed, get another one and pass it.

Unlock Hidden routes

In the tournament category, if you meet the conditions and win, a hidden route will be released after the match and options will appear and you will lose time.

## Dodgeball

### mushroom cup

- A: Catch the opponent's ball 10 times or more
- B: Hit twice or more with super attack
- C: Hit more than once with special shot
- D: Hit more than once with jump attack

In all cups, the initial position is preferably the right half.

### flower cup

- A: Hit 2 or more times with jump attack
- B: Hit more than once with special shot
- C: Successfully complete one or more pass steals
- D: Hit 3 or more times with super attack

If you don't use pass steal, route A is preferable, and if you do, route A, second from the right, is preferable.

### star cup

- A: Successful pass steal 2 or more times
- B: Succeeded in catching the ball twice or more
- C: Hit twice or more with special shots

Either way, you'll be using a special shot in the second round, so unlocking hidden routes is inevitable.

## Volleyball

We will carefully select the initial position to avoid routes that basically require victory based on point difference.

If you are aiming for a record, reset when the initial position of the mushroom cup is B.

### mushroom cup

- A: Earn 3 or more points with Super Spikes.
- B: Win with a difference of 4 points or more
- C: Score more than once with feint
- D: Score 3 or more times in a row

### flower cup

- A: Acquire 2 or more points at once
- B: Win with a difference of 5 points or more
- C: Score 5 or more times with Super Spikes
- D: Earn 1 or more points with special shots

### star cup

- A: Score 3 or more times with feints
- B: Acquire 2 or more points at once
- C: Score 3 or more times in a row
- D: Earn 1 or more points with 2 attacks

In the case of route A, the release of the hidden route cannot be avoided due to the conditions of round C in the second round.

In the case of route B, it is quite difficult to win without opening the hidden route due to the stage specifications.

## Basketball

### mushroom cup

- A: Obtain 20 points or more
- B: Score 1 or more points with special shots
- C: Earn 3 or more points with one shot
- D: Score at least once with an alley-oop

### flower cup

- A: Score 3 or more times with throwing shots
- B: Win with a difference of 10 points or more
- C: Score two or more layups
- D: Score 2 or more times with 3P shots

### star cup

- A: Get 25 points first
- B: Score 2 or more times with alley-oop
- C: Score 3 or more times in a row
- D: Score 10 points or more with a dunk shot

## Hockey

### mushroom cup

- A: Take down 3 times with attack.
- B: Score at least once with special shots
- C: Obtain 15 points or more
- D: Score twice or more in a row

### flower cup

- A: Earn 2 or more points with one shot.
- B: Win with a difference of 5 points or more
- C: Earn 2 or more points with a super shot
- D: Get 10 points first

### star cup

- A: Get 10 points first
- B: Obtain 20 points or more
- C: Win with a difference of 10 points or more
- D: Score 3 or more times in a row
