Accessing Old Game Versions and step-by-step setup of Set Seed Runs --- Updated: (March 23rd, 2024)

**In order to run the game on Set Seeds so the level layout, chests and mob spawns are always the same, you'll need to be play on PC. Sorry console players!**

**Supported Versions**

Using the [Dungeons Mod Manager](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/566693813343617027/987108378113347674/MCD_DMM.zip), created by flat20 and LukeFZ, allows you to automatically set seeds when they're loaded by the game, requiring little extra effort.

Use of this tool is mandatory in order to play on older versions of the game.

After [downloading](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1115112516603891752/1221209768329220137/DMM.zip?ex=6611bf39&is=65ff4a39&hm=61da63f854a3e879cc6f4e73b64d9400ea218ebfa5b6106bc471346b0d6d96bd&) the .zip file, extract all of the files to their own folder where you can easily access them.

Once you've done that, you can launch DMM.exe and select which version of the game you would like to download.
When you've finished downloading a version, you can click "Start Game" in DMM to launch it by itself.
If you want to use this for Set Seed runs, simply [check the box under Settings](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/566693813343617027/788398980034854941/unknown.png) to have the launcher auto-inject the tool necessary for these types of runs.

**As of the release of the Echoing Void DLC, you now have to add one extra file to run older versions.**

From there, you can play normally and the game will automatically load the [seeds provided for each level, by the injected tool](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/566693813343617027/788399807756107856/unknown.png).

If you need to edit which seeds get loaded, simply edit the speedrun_defaults.json file.
The numbers on the same line as a level's name is directly correlated.
In order to keep up-to-date on which seeds are best available, you can [check this public document](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oofR0bdDFLuSCSQCMZ7kangVFQpla1Q0qWg6Eqittpg/edit) or stay more immediately up-to-date in our Discord server provided in the sidebar.

**Set Seed for v1.8.0.0+**

Due to the way the game has been updated in v1.8+, the older method of providing Set Seeds ceased functionality. In order to remedy this, we've remade the part of the tool that provides Set Seed functionality specifically for v1.8.0.0+.

Simply [download and unzip this](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/722182925243645972/815911872829849630/speedrunFixed1800.7z), then replace the appropriate files where you have your Dungeons Mod Manager installed, and the \Profiles subfolder.

Once speedrun.dll is placed in the root installation folder, and speedrun.exe is in the \Profiles subfolder, you can simply launch the tool and game as you normally would to do Set Seed for v1.8.0.0+.

**Windows Store Installation**

In order to install the Windows Store versions, you must first download the file through DMM.
If, for any reason, you cannot download the file using DMM, please try to download the desired version by using the link in the versions.json file, under \config, in your web browser. Doing so should prompt you to download it in your web browser. Just be sure to [place the downloaded file in its respective profile folder](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/566693813343617027/799628812974424075/unknown.png).

Once your file is downloaded, make sure you have [Developer Mode](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/566693813343617027/799629582324072458/unknown.png) turned on in your Windows Settings. To get to this menu, just search for "Developer Settings" in Windows.

Now, go to where you have DMM.exe and InstallPackage.ps1 installed, then **SHIFT+Right-click** on empty space in the folder and select the [Open PowerShell window here](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/566693813343617027/799630889008758824/unknown.png) option.

Now, go back to where you have the downloaded Windows Store file and [copy the full path to it](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/566693813343617027/799632432680009788/copy.gif).
Once you have the full path copied, go back to the PowerShell window and run this command:
.\InstallPackage.ps1 "fullpathgoeshere"

If everything works properly, [it should look similar to this](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/566693813343617027/799633843472695366/unknown.png). You'll see a loading bar fill up and eventually disappear. Once it's gone, the game should be installed and you can play it by searching for it in Windows.

If you want to install another version, you must start from scratch by uninstalling the currently installed version, then re-install a version via PowerShell again.

Gear and Enchants to Look For in Runs

> I made this because not everyone knows what gear too keep an eye out for during a run

# Armor

For speed the best armor is the **Evo robe**, this armor is the best because it has speed built into it as well as cooldown. You can also get lucky and get an **Archer’s armor** from creeper wood which gives moves speed and more bow damage. For armor that will help you stay alive you can go with **Mercenary armor/Scale mail**. This armor is great at combat because it has extra damage and damage reduction. However, if all you want to do is not die you can pick up **Stalwart armor** from fiery forge. The stalwart armor has damage reduction as well as a chance to negate hits, but the armor does give you a much longer roll cd.

## Enchants

The best speed enchant by far is **Swiftfoot**, this enchant faster than using a boot + deathcap so keep an eye out for this enchant. The next best are **Cooldown**, **Rush** and **Speed Syn** in that order. Most other armor enchants are not worth getting and would get more value putting your points into your weapons.

# Weapons

Weapons are not as set in stone as armor, the power level of the item is more important than what weapon you have. For bows the best is the **Scatter bows** that you can get in highblock halls. But you can also get some good **Shortbows** in desert temple. High level **Trickbows** are very good with some enchantments as well.

For melee weapons the **Glave** and **Tempest knife** have been used for their high damage and range but there are many weapons that can be used that can be found from the merchant you unlock in creeper woods.

## Enchants

For bows look for **Accelerate** for the highest dps, but can also use things such as **Growing**, **Multishot**,  **Poison cloud** or **Fuse shot**. For melee there is a bunch to pick from, you can get **Enigma resonator** to give crits you your soul knife. **Echo** makes your weapon attack 2 times and Smite will melt the desert temple boss. **Power** and **Sharpness** on bows and melee are also good enchants for every fight. There are a bunch of weapon enchantments that will give you good results so in the end you might have to mess around with them. I also think **Looting** is one of the best for a chance to spawn 2x dmg pots.

# Artifacts

The big ones are **Boots** and **Deathcap** that can both be found in creeper woods. Boots are also found in desert temple and Deathcap is also in highblock halls. Boot is the fastest artifact that can be used infinite at 2 boots and 1 cooldown. Deathcap gives slight move speed but a bunch of melee attack speed. **Torment quiver** is a great bow artifact that makes the highblock halls fight a joke, but you must get souls for it and works wonders with **multishot** and **bonus shot** builds. **Feather** can be used to skip ambushes in the last level and activate swiftfoot as well as just making you slightly faster when used.

This should get anyone started with what to use, but this is not everything and there are some good combos with some items in some situations.

to activate autosplitter on your livesplit, you need to right-click on the timer, then click ''edit splits'', after you've done that, where it says ''game name'' please write in there Minecraft Dungeons, after you've done that click on the activate button where it says ''autosplitter by rythin'', and when you've done that if you want to speedrun individual levels please go on settings right after the activate button and click on IL mode, if you want to speedrun the whole game, don't activate the IL mode.
