In my run yesterday (just past midnight here), I didn't see the second text box at all. here's a clip of that:

I thought it might have been because I went up the side instead of using the platform as an elevator, or because I didn't jump to the wall (early enough). So I went back into Dolphin and used the 18 drop save state, but I tried both ideas (I tried jumping late and not at all, just sliding to the wall) and neither of them were able to reproduce the skip. I still think the gate could have something to do with it, because I got hit while it was closing, but I wasn't able to get the gate to hit me like in the clip after about 10 minutes of retrying, so I gave up on that.

are there any other ideas as to why this happened? I'm using the build that came with the savestates zip, Dolphin 5.0-13178.

I mentioned this one during my other text box skips. not sure how you pulled it off there, but normally as long as you jump by the 2nd or 3rd water pellet, and dont fall on the last ones you'll skip the text.

Eventually i wanna have a topic for all the ones found once theyre all compiled. I've even skipped the H2O text box after it shows the H2O sign and Drop, I was able to skip the text box and animation showing the furnace; but haven't been able to duplicate it.

on the topic of textbox skips: i found one in the tutorial

instead of going into the second to last pumper, reverse and jump (see 2:18). not only does it skip the textbox you get after you go through the pumper, it also cuts out some of the time you take going through the pumper.

No lie that's a pretty good find, very nice. I've change the topic title cause I wanted a place to list all these as we find them. Gonna add My Thunder one here as well and others as we find them.

Here's a small text box skip during the Lightning pickup. When you pick up Lighting upgrade, the first one you have to watch, but if you get far enough right and tap "2" a couple times (as you're under the lip of the cavern ) it prevents 2nd text box pop up. Vid below shows first with popup, 2nd part shows the skip.
