no offense but no one will ever run this, locking the thread so people stop getting notifications for it
You can get all the big house coins without using the carpet but it's really hard. Unfortunately there's no video of the IL. I can maybe show you a proof of concept for it, it's not as crazy as that or what people usually refer to as "carpetless"
I dunno, a day or so. We're just waiting to get input from all the mods that give a shit about this sorta thing.
We're likely to allow Mupen64Plus for emulator submissions, just know that it runs slower than PJ64. Allowing OpenEMU and Mupen64Plus runs makes spotting runs done on Mupen64 more difficult, so I wouldn't say there are no issues. We weren't too happy about allowing OpenEMU originally either.
This is added now by the way, we allow re-entering stages but not collecting the same coin twice. There's also a gameshark code for it too.
If a category allows the intro skip code and you choose to use it, you start your timer at 1 minute at file select. If you don't use intro skip, timer starts at 0 on power on/reset just like normal sm64 categories.
If the category has a built-in intro skip like nonstop or 1000 coins, you start your timer at file select at 0.
There's one missing near PSS as well. Also as a clarification for the timing, if you dont use the intro skip code you use reset timing as usual (not file select timing).
Just wondering out of curiosity? I haven't seen any other N64 speedrun use this emulator.
There is nothing to suggest Xiah ever cheated any of his runs. If you wanna know more about cheating in sm64 speedrunning history look up any of the million youtube videos about it. Locking this thread to avoid confusion.
he's from korea and might not know about april fools, I'm going to lock this thread to avoid more confusion.
Basically what @steven_ashe said, these are old runs from MarioRuns or atwiki that were grandfathered in AFTER we made it mandatory that all runs have vods. The verified column is mostly for vods with poor quality, it's just a workaround cause we can't setup anything better with speedrun.com
there's a lot of variance in how n64 emulators run, pj64 1.6 is the most commonly used version so for sake of fair comparison among emu runners we made that standard (although people with Macs can run openemu which is slightly slower). pj64 2.x versions in particular run way faster than pj64 1.x
Verified is something we talked about implementing for a long time. The way it's currently implemented isn't so great, since ideally it would be an option only the mods would see. Basically, it's a way to put runs on the lbs that don't meet quality standards. Just for the record, "Verified" doesn't mean the run has been cleared of all possible cheating, and similarly "not verified" doesn't say anything about the legitimacy of the run, just that it doesn't meet the quality standards. Examples of runs that would be not verified: choppy recordings, recordings that aren't one segment, no vod runs that were grandfathered in from 2015 or earlier, recordings with no audio, etc.
because, in general, single stars are more strict about just about everything (timing, recording, etc.) and emulator is too hard to regulate, besides being unfair to compare with console. Most people that aren't serious about single stars just track their times in a spreadsheet (check the RTA spreadsheet in resources for example). Maybe @Lyfey will give you a more in-depth answer.
