I just saw this run of Any% All Upgrades by @Soldadito08 To me this seems like a New Game+ any% run, or maybe All Areas New Game+. I think calling this a "new game+" run is more clear than "all upgrades", since to me "all upgrades" sounds like you actually get all upgrades during the run. Also, I don't think any% makes since for this category, since if your only goal was to beat the game from a completed file, you would just play Emerald Temple and be done. It looks like the true goal of this category is to beat all of the areas. I don't wanna put this run on the leaderboard until we decide more about the category. Thoughts?
@Cacophony A low attempt count isn't really a reason to think a run is fake, I assumed Soldadito practiced a lot outside of runs, or did runs without livesplit, which seems to be the case. Bad recording isn't really a reason to be suspect cheating either, since fake runs can be recorded just as well as real runs. Do you have an idea how the runs could be faked?
@Soldadito08 Also in case it wasn't clear, your attempt counter on livesplit said 19 in your 26:49.
BTW, we can check if the score is consistent between levels to detect splicing, I think I'll start checking that for new WRs.
Are you basically talking about this? I've tried using it in runs but I usually lose time to mistiming it. I didn't know it works if you just hold left and right though, that seems a lot easier.
If you do a run of any of those, I'll add it no problem, seeing as there's two empty categories still lol. Maybe it would be best to add a low% category if you want to do that, since I did some routing for low% for the sequel a couple years back.
I've been forgetting to mention this, there's a little shortcut in sunset gulch you should know about. Around the middle of the level where there's 2 crushers in a row, you can drop down between them where the ground is discolored. Should save a couple seconds
I don't remember experiencing this when I did runs. For those individual cases though, sometimes if you start holding right too early it won't work. Start holding it just before you get control. And for the ropes, you may have just let go of A too early, before you touched the rope. I'd recommend holding A from midair, this will make you jump off the rope on the first frame, though it's harder to control your jump height this way.
Standing next to an enemigo isn't random as far as I know, the position is just precise. Often punching him helps. But yeah that one section in shady springs is just stupid. It's definitely fastest to jump over that machete guy.
Hi there. Indeed that clipping glitch in pretty useful. I've always called it "knockback enemigos". There's some spots you can do it consistently and some cases where you can only do it if they move in a certain way.
Hm, do you think you can make with or without golden cookies a subcategory/tab for the relevant categories? The leaderboard's a little cluttered now imo.
So if upgrades and buildings aren't allowed, it's just the autoclicker + you clicking golden cookies?
There's no point in adding categories that no one has done a run of. Complete a run, then ask for it to be added. :P
That is a shame... that was a pretty useful post when I did my routing for the game. That strat was unoptimal, anyway, the other routes are better.
I agree that the dev tools menu should be banned. I don't think there's a good reason to ban the dungeon beta version, if someone can make a good route using the dungeons, and it's faster for some category, it should be used.
