under every run, theres a button at the bottom right corner, looks like 3 dots, you'll find the rest there
You still can do it. I fucked up last time, so the older records got wiped out, but hey, we all gotta learn the things, right? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m0bjfuSuxLjqs9XylkVdPnOj3Hhu2OrKLgjiLdf7lKE/edit?usp=sharing
There's no real way to downpatch Dota, afaik. I was planning to do a complete wipeout (2nd one, in fact), as there's no way to beat 7.07 runs, while the game keeps changing over time. So, keep running on current patch. RIP HotD strats.
don't make your game fullscreen (stick to 1600x900 res. or lower) and put livesplit somewhere on your screen. if you want to set livesplit on obs: add a window capture w/ obs on your scene, and move the capture anywhere you want.
That's why when rules loophole occurs, you'll try to find out the effects of it, and determine a new set of rules. Since NG+ doesn't have any effect on the run itself (besides the "unlocking"), i doubt we have to change anything, so that's the idea i'm behind, and i'm glad that our discussion didn't went south.
Dividing the leaderboards of a dead game with barely any runs (including obsolete ones), based on the savefile differences (that saves a minute, if you've never cleared HH before, takes an hour) doesn't seem like a good idea. Not only you'll get another "free rekkie come here" zone, you won't attract any new runners to the game, and well, make the leaderboard look slightly worse.
I'm not sure why would you do that tbh. Unless you want to make me come, and make another run that won't utilize NG+ savefile, but you've already noted that if we subtract the timesave from ng+ file, i'll still beat you. So, what's the deal?
Well, it wasn't adressed by the rules, so i just went along w/ 100% unlocked file.
At the same time, i don't see a reason to use fresh one. You're intentionally going slower because of the extra mashing you have to do after every fight, and there's a huge chance that NG+ characters have no effect for Storymode (based off Naruto's loops dps). I honestly don't see a reason to do extra inputs during the run, if it has no effect on a run itself.
You can try to check for the differences between the original PS2 and PCSX2, and maybe you'll find something out. I mean, besides some inconsistencies w/ FPS and PS2 fights/areas loading much faster.
4SE had shitton of changes to the main game. 4SE gets often sales, whereas v4 does not. Nobody ran 3DA, and there's barely any evidences/repacks on torrents that you can find 3DA.
If you want to run 3DA, feel free to do so, but i doubt lbs will be created.
They can be used, since there's no way to disable them, and handicapping players to perform deathless runs is not something i want to do.
First, i want to get more data from console players, compare PC IGT and Console IGT. Then, we'll probably either a ) switch to the loadless, aka "the first black frame on load doesn't count". This would exclude menuing from being timed, as the game uses the same address for "loading" and "menu/pre-mission". b ) switch to a mix of RTA + IGT, aka "take IGT from the already known address, exclude black screens and other important things in the run manually, and switch to frame timings, to get the exact time". This method will "save" the menuing time, but will add much more work to the mods, unless... c) separate PC from Console, which will make the leaderboards similar to DMC3 one, which personally, i wish to avoid. Not only it doesn't solve any problems with the obscure loading times (and essentially making the game P2W w/ SSD), it will only delay the inevitable, since the RTA vs. IGT problem will arise once more, should more runners appear.
Play throughout the game, and record as much segments as you can. Try out different missions, using menu, waiting during the menu, using items, finishing the level on HoH difficulty, not skipping cutscenes, etc.
I'll figure out whats going on i think.
Send your runs here, and please, start the recording from the mission menu.
TL:DR 1) Record PS4/XB1 for testing IGT. 2) PC's HDD load times are incomparable to SSD, making the run P2W. 3) Loadless (IGT+Menus) might be the new way we'll time the runs. In theory.
Hello.
Let's talk about one small problem. The loading times in this game are extremely volatile and can lead towards random timeloss problems during the run. Sure, you can buy SSD if you're PC player like me, but i'd like for you guys to take a brief look at the (dead) leaderboards.

So, as you might've noticed, the majority of PC players are on the board, while XB1/PS4 runs can be counted by fingers on 1 hand. Why is that? Some of you might write/say that: "Hey Meka, but console players are not running this game because they have no chances to compete against PC loading times!". And, if i will throw away random reasons why this game (and series) is not popular, the main reason is that the loading times are extremely obscure, even if you're playing on PC. With HDD, like a normal person.
So, as far as i'm researching, the current IGT timer in the game is relatively accurate. You can find the IGT pointer in the Cheat Engine table that's pinned in the Resources.
Timer works based on the time you spent on a mission. So, if you're menuing/pausing the game, the timer will stop. If that would be the case i'm asking you to test it, it's gonna be easy, because hey, you've already found the solution which can make the leaderboards a bit more friendly for the community!
The problem lies in the Timer itself. Myself, i don't want the menuing get out from the runs, as menuing alone allows you to save a lot of time, eliminating the need for the players to practice their menus.* At the same time, i know that loading times are extremely obscure, even if you will get an SSD. I want to make the leaderboards less P2W, and more "play better for better place".
That's why i'm calling XB1/PS4 players that do follow the game or have it on the console. Record your runs, the more data i'll get, the better. If the IGT timer works the same on consoles, then we'll probably switch (gotta talk w/ Bun later on) to full IGT, with menuing being still counted via manual checking.
So, the leaderboards will be a bit closer to loadless.
Any% allows you to die 3 times to select Easy difficulty and continue the run, while NG runs you have to stick to the difficulty you've selected. Dante NG Normal considered the "main" category of the game, while Any% is just a memey one.
Good luck on that, pal.
Watching the "razbor" of a beaten record without a single clue what's happening is p. much doing a blind run. Not only you "chose" the game (because i assume you never played it before) to get "ez" record, which i can assure is not that free for main categories, you also completely ignored the Guides section and already looking for a "faster" way to get the result, that took weeks, months, or maybe years for the rest of us to get.
I'm not going to explain any "faster" strats that exist/i perform in both Any% and NG Any%, do the regular (researching/analyzing/testing) job yourself, or go home. There are no easy ways in speedrunning. The links below will help you to get started. https://www.speedrun.com/td2/guide/j1o7p https://www.speedrun.com/td2/guide/c1bti https://www.speedrun.com/td2/guide/wqvra
If you'll use OBS as your recording source (i assume you found Livesplit already), please, make your splits transparent by setting up Filters - Color Key.
I probably wasn't paying attention to that run / someone else accepted it. Gonna fix that now.
Real Time = i think there's no need to explain it. IGT = real time + time before the horn, usually 1m. 30s for normal runs. Different run categories (ie. Turbo) have 1 min. b4 the horn. Bots have 1:15-ish (saw 1:13, 1:14 also)
In general, i won't really tell that IL's are 100% correct in terms of timings, so i don't really mind if minor (up to 2s.) differences will appear in empty boards. Should some records question their place (given the competition will be real, instead of taking free rekkies), i'll do a bit more extensive research upon the runs.
