Hey everybody. I'm new to speedrun.com, as well as the actual act of speedrunning myself, though I've been watching the scene for a while.

My question is that, with a game as long as FFT, are multi segment runs allowed? I simply don't have the time necessary to sit down and play the whole game in one sitting. If the rules are open to debate, might I suggest that each chapter needs to be its own segment?

Additionally, I was thinking of doing a Ramza only glitchless speedrun without math skill. Would this be an acceptable category, or too specific? I feel like it is pretty well rounded and could work well for different strategies (makes job grinding harder, since you have to solo as Ramza as weaker jobs, and no math skill makes you need to fight a little closer, and glitchless means you actually have to grind out some classes). Would there be any interest in a run like this, or is it too specific and tedious? (I'll probably do it for fun, anyway!)

I'm unable to find specific information on if multiple segment runs are accepted anywhere. Is this a per game basis? I'm interested in Final Fantasy Tactics, but it's a pretty long game. I checked one of the speedruns and it was a single segment RTA, but is that required for all runs? Not really because of multiple segment optimization or anything, but I unfortunately just don't have the time to do everything in one sitting, but I suppose maybe that's just the spirit of the competition.

If it's per game, I've tried asking in the FFT specific forum, but I don't think it's very active. There's a single moderator and they posted a topic looking for a replacement supermod.

Maybe if it is per game, then each chapter as a single segment could be accepted? I dunno, I'm new to this site.

Hi, I'm new to speedrun.com. I'm familiar with speedrunning in general, but I couldn't find an overall FAQ that addresses if runs are all single segments or can be multiple segments, spliced together at save points?

I love FFT, but I don't have a continuous block of time available to run the entire game. Are runs which save every so often, cut off, and then reload at that save accepted, or must all runs submitted be single segment?
