I was wondering if it's okay to run Ty 1 on emulators for the "console" categories. I'm saving up to grab a PC copy, just for ease of access and recording over console, but I figure it doesn't hurt to be able to practice and maybe make a meaningful attempt before then.

There's nothing listed in the rules about emulation... or, well, anything (should rules be added to the runs?). Hence wanting to ask before starting.

Hey everyone! I'm oreoplaysthings, and I'm not a speedrunner. Yet. But ever since I was introduced to GDQ (as I'm sure is the case for many), I've tried to follow the scene, as I did with Let's Playing before that. I've personally dabbled in Let's Plays and streaming, and while school makes it somewhat difficult to maintain, it's nice to be able to fall back on it for fun every now and again.

I think the main impetus for looking into actually trying speedruns was the "pacifist run" of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger at the last SGDQ. I always loved that game, and seeing that incentive just kinda... be ignored? I guess... made me want to see if it's really possible. So that'll be my first goal around here!

All in all, even if I never do a run, speedrunning has always been the most welcoming community I've ever seen, and I wanted to be a part of it. So here I am. Cheers to you all!
