Hello JeelSpeed, happy to see enthusiasm for the GeoGuessr speedrunning leaderboard. We have a dedicated discord server that you can join and express suggestions and opinions.

1: -Add more maps/ils such as the most famous maps/ils or country-type maps/ils (Ex. "Dumb Test", "United States," etc)

We have been discussing adding country spesific speedrun categories, but any category will be purely based on community interest. I am very sure that very limited players have interest in speedrunning maps like "Dumb Test, Famous Places or GeoGuessr official country maps"

2: -Maybe a milestone goal, (Ex. "5k Points," "10k Points," "25k Points (or All points)," etc

Depending on the implementation of any of these, the WR would be the loadtime of the browser itself. People who have played GeoGuessr alot can get very close almost immediately. But we do have interest in the community of a 100k category, where you have to play 4 consecutive 25K games in a row. Which would eliminate the grind for a amazing seed.

3: -Category Extensions, (Ex. "Twitch/YT Chat Help (Countrystreak)," "Blindfolded (someone else who isnt blindfolded will tell/describe the location)," etc -For full game categories, do countrystreak or something I dont really know.

The GeoGuessr Speedrunning community is great friends with the greater GeoGuessr competetive community, which has leaderboards over at plonkit.net. Alot of the things you described wants for are found on their leaderboards / highscore attempts.

Welcome to the community!

To be clear, we will send out keys to participants on Monday 23rd. (tomorrow). With the key you can do whatever you want, you can practice, play casually, even do runs, but runs will only count if done on Tuesday the 24th in your timezone.

Hello, Speedrunners

Blue Isle Studio is holding a 5 year anniversary for Valley, therefore they are handing out steam keys for the community to stream on the 24th of August.

Valley is a First Person exploration game with amazing movement techniques. Learning the hardest strats can take a long time, but getting through the game with most strats is not too bad. The game is very short casually, so even if you don’t want to claim a key and participate on the 24th. We would still recommend picking up the game on sale and trying it out.

We reached out to them to see if we could get some keys for some sort of Valley speedrunning community event. We have gotten 7 keys so far, might get more if we have enough interest to sign up.

The plan is to give out the keys on Monday 23.08 to everyone who signs up (who does not have the game already). On the 24th everyone will have the whole day to learn and complete speedruns of the game. We want to see who can get the fastest time possible after learning the game from scratch.

We recommend that you play through the game normally first on Monday to get a feel for the game and its levels. It’s a short casual experience, only 2-4 hours.

Me and TRS (TheRedSock) have put 100$ in the pot for first(60%) second(30%) and third place(10%). Anyone can also donate to this pot if they wish. Only people who do not have a leaderboard time are eligible for prizes. But we still encourage old members to participate and help the new guys out.

By accepting a key for this event you agree to stream the game for some amount of time on the 24th for the 5 year anniversary event.

If you are a community figure and want to share this event message on any number of platforms, feel free. For signups and more information, please join the discord linked below.

running it would be a start. We routed it when it came out, we just never did runs. It should be a decently fast run however. Please contact me or Mumrik on Discord if you want help with it

do a dive, spin your mouse atleast 380 degrees left or right (so that your character gets borked and your feet are traveling first) Press Alt while inside an object (this pauses the game) While the game is paused, move your mouse depening if you want to clip or launch.

As FatMan922 said, there have not been any runs submitted on consoles. We have tried to get some console runners in the past but they never did runs.

Usually leaderboard splits happen when there is some mechanical difference between the platforms, or to prevent problems with version differences. Included to that, other than control scheme, the game is identical as far as we know on all platforms. (atleast right now, as we are currently running on current patch, but there are older patches with their own jank).

Just a quick reply to CartinaCow about a crowd loitering around the computers. This was the Awful Relay crew setting up and practicing that run. 27 runners. Sorry we made noise, but we had to do it at some block when pcs would be free

This is easily Top 2 ESAs for me (been in 4 now), very good. The new PCs are great, super sick (will get back to the PC situation). I will mostly write about the negatives since everything else was / is amazing, if i were to go through all the good stuff it would result in writing a book. Shoutout to feasel and Liva (as always) for working super hard for peoples entertainment.

One of the problems was sound effecting the two streams, this could either be Stream one yelling and being heard on Stream two or a certain bunch of Road Rascals. Not a shot at them at all, just a general problem i observed with sound in the main stream space.

The PC-practice room and Quiet practice room was a absolute disaster and was not ok. Reminded me of 2016, the year that shall not be named. Quiet Practice just didn't have PCs for most of the event, just an empty room. Quiet Practice then became a streaming room with a locked door. I had to ask for a friend that wanted to practice his speedgame on how to get access to the Quiet Practice room, since a this point the PC-practice room had about 6 computers left, all of which used by non-runners to not speedrun. Anyone with a runner tag should immediately have access to Quiet practice and literally nobody else, this would require alot of work by the infodesk, but this is actually important.

At the start of the event there were mabye 10+ computers at the PC-practice room, this number dwindled over the course of the event for no explainable reason. Monitor cables getting unplugged for console people playing fighters, monitor cables totally disappearing. This along with few setups, mis-use of setups and disappearing setups made it impossible to practice later in the event. Although the new computers were great, the lack of lower power computers were a massive issue. If we still have access to the old Dreamhack computers, atleast the people playing retro PC games, playing whatever non speedrun stuff for fun can use those. And let the runners who need to practice with a good computer have the good computers.

These PCs were very often not used for practicing speedruns, instead random coop fighters and other non speedrunning activities. In my opinion if people want to do stuff like that, bring a laptop or bring back the dreamhack computers or equivalent if possible. The setups are for people who don't have or can't run on a laptop for practice. I know alot of people who didn't know where to practice their speedgames if it was on a PC.

Some of the area space of the Arcade should have been the Mafia space, and the room used for Mafia or SpeedGaming should have been second stream again. (I miss the comfy small room filled with friends) Many of the rooms were largely unused (Quiet Practice since it had no pcs), one room was largely un-named and only used for hot sauce and karaoke later in the event?.

TLDR: Event amazing, very loud at times, PC situation very bad

yes and yes But you do not need a leaderboard to START running something. If you do, then no. You won't get a leaderboard. If you have done a bunch of runs and want other people to join you to push the game, then yes, yes you can have a leaderboard.

Categories and leaderboards are made to compare your run to other runners, aswell as to compete. Leadersboards are also for having a clean and nice way to show what ways people play a certain game, in our case as speedrunners, how we play the game fast, or how fast a game can be.

As for the "current patch" / "other games have it" Yes, this is true. Some games have these categories, to this point in Aragami's life, nobody has wanted to do this, therefore it's not a category.

If you won't run this game without a category of your own, then there is no point. But if you want to play the game and learn everything about it, submit your time in the current leaderboard, add a comment saying that it is a "current patch" run. And eventhought this game is not popular, mabye, just mabye, you get some people who want to do that aswell.
