Nice run! really cool to see someone else attempting it and it looks like you got a lot of the tricky stuff down. Let me know if you want to talk about strats some time.
Yeah, I think the next step is to use a memory tool to figure out the exact numbers needed to pull it off and then confirm if it will only ever be usable in pentil.
We do go in that room during the good% run, should save a number of seconds at least not needing to grab the extra tools. Not sure if it lets us reroute our stat allocation or anything yet though.
To be clear, I think this would be a new run style and would be several times longer than anything else. It would likely require more total completion, several more levels, and a focus on collecting and using good gear. Maybe it would even require using creations.
Rome_ you fucking nailed it. I will try to get a video up soon but in pentil you can trigger combat with anyone in the area by starting combat with them. Only they will turn hostile and then you can run away while the guards kill them. This includes the leader! I can do this twice when first entering but since it's related to the crime system it may be possible to gain favor and then do this in other cities.
Still pondering all the implications but this seems like it will be used in the good% and might even make a kill the big bad after he has used the geneforge run viable.
It was from a reload of the old any% run. I will try sometime soon and see if I can recreate from a fresh run. The guard right outside before pentil east seemed very consistent at least. The guard captain might well have been a one-off glitch of some sort.
While doing some random testing I noticed I could go into combat, click on one of the guards along the east exit, and the other guards would start attacking the guard I made hostile without turning on me. I did this once to the guard captain in Pentil as well but have not been able to recreate.
Testing this in other areas has universally caused everyone to turn against me at the same time.
Personally I just dont think its ever been attempted more than anything. Would love to see the co-op run.
Nice!
I tried to skip the bridge before but couldn't get it work. Will have to practice that. I started practicing the bottom path route but had not put it into a run yet.
Now if only we could find a a faster way through those monsters outside of pentil
I had a 14:45 today and then saw your new 14min new run 😆.
Nice run btw some of your monster RNG here looks really nice but your dialog is still quite a bit faster than mine.
Glad to hear that cheese helped out, and congrats on the World.
we can do some maths here but I think you got it right. I have been doing 150 but by the time I get to ice cave my damage is already falling off again, once I get better at duping I will probably up it.
If your quick enough There maybe room for a quick dupe near the end before the last 2 bosses, egg room or something to try and top off strength to hit a breakpoint there?
How fast can you dupe to screen limit? once you know that you can math out a good idea of how much time it takes to dupe to the next breakpoint.
edit
Ok so in your WR you dupe to screen limit at about 30 seconds per go not including setting to your use slot. this could be marginally faster but this is already really close to as fast as possible while still allowing human error. in total going from 16 to 200 took you 8mins. This further breaks down to about 30 str per min doing the dupe assuming your keeping this pace. Which is I think only really helps assert that 200 is the ending point unless "maybe" your doing all dungeons. maybe if you could find a better weapon near guaranteed during the run at this late stage I could see duping past a breakpoint being worth it, but other wise your just better off spending the time using guts and healing items.
I found a glitch involving the clone on GameFAQs https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/gba/589485-shining-soul-ii/cheats
and noticed nobody seems to be using it. I have validated its existence on both the JP cart and the English cart. Using this ive been able to power wine to any stat i want, come into the clone room, throw a healing item as he runs towards me, move down and ensure the item is gone (was used by the clone) and then turn around and one shot him.
In addition ive tried throwing a number of other items to see if it has any effect but nothing yet, wings, soul, mp items, bombs. Only healing items seem to be do anything leading me to believe that this may be intended rather than a glitch.
