is nestopia more accurate than fceu? i thought it was the other way around
speedrun.com doesn't require milliseconds but it helps separating runners that are close, at the same time i think it's ok to incorrectly use centiseconds because it doesn't change the order on the leaderboard
can we get milliseconds for the IGT? that would save some troubles
i think it would be better if the timer is as RTA as possible, but it's not a big deal as long as it's the same timer for everyone. so if you die 3 times for example, how much time do you add to get a more accurate time? 3 x 131 frames? either way it's not a huge deal. wait a second, are you saying that if your time is 2:36.40 for example, that's 40/60 and not 40/100?
yeah is this doom 2? i do 6 seconds all the time
i would prefer if you would use fceu, nestopia or bizhawk. there are tons of other emulators out there and we can't test all of them
i've never played a real vs super mario arcade but i think it's possible to do, they're supposed to have switches to set the different time speed etc, and also it's not a giant advantage so i don't see a problem
i think you can get weird wrong warps if you go down the pipe while the camera is moving, i think i've seen someone in smb1 go through the wall at the end of 1-2 and go down the first pipe before the "welcome to warp zone" was loaded and the camera was still moving and he wrong warped to a version of 1-1 with plants coming out of the pipes (normally there aren't any plants coming out of the pipes in 1-1). also as far as i know you need to clip inside the wall to do this WW(the one that goes to the warpzone faster) as small mario in 4-2 in VS smb because mario needs to be WAYYYYYY more to the right of the screen, i think under the "I" in "TIME" from what i remember. unless something else is discovered
ok i changed "nes" into fds. as for the year i don't think we can 100% confirm the year, it was on the back of some lost level disks. most of the information i could find on tonkachi mario was on youtube and stuff like that. should i change the year too?
oops looks like someone already posted it, i forgot to refresh the page lol
i think retrobob used to have one on twitch but i don't know if he still has it
switch is allowed, the only thing banned so far is alternate fast in-game timer, and we could possibly add individual levels, i'll talk to some people first and see what they think
hmm the faster timer makes the run faster in general because at the end of the level it'll drop to "000" faster and you save 1 frame for each in-game seconds less, not sure about fireworks but the "000" thing i just mentioned is more important
my bad, i wasn't really paying attention and i didn't think it would hurt that much because there's only 3 people on the leaderboard and his time wasn't competitive. i'll take it down in case more people do the same thing, sorry for inconveniences
should be fine as long as the in game timer isn't super fast, i already put the in game times you should be able to get while going down the first pipe of 1-1 in the rules
it's probably fine, do you have a video of yourself doing the first level or something?
so far everything is allowed as long as it doesn't use alternate fast in game speed, and i wouldn't know where do get a repro cart because i use emulator
i recommend fire mario for both any% and warpless. it is both easier and faster
i'm really sorry for the super slow response guys, i didn't notice this thread. on my warpless PB i did much safer strat than my any% PB, for example on 6-3 i wait on every single bullet bill before i keep going instead of doing what some people call russian roulette which is what i did in my any% PB. to be safer basically i wait on the bullet bill and look at where it is before continuing. on 6-1 if you do a full jump from the first "?" block it'll confuse the lakitu's AI and he won't drop any spinies before you pass him if you keep running. on 3-3 you must avoid stomping or shooting the last 2 red flying koopas, otherwise you might despawn the elevator needed to reach the end of the level. on 7-2 if there's a blooper blocking your way i recommend luring the blooper in the wrong direction to give you space to get passed him. also i highly recommend fire mario strats, small mario doesn't have any speed or ease advantage even in any% because you have to get passed 2 extra bowsers compared to smb1 any% and you save about 2 seconds on each bowsers if you killed them with fire balls which makes up for the time it took to collect the powerups. this is my warpless PB if you wanna see some safer strats compared to any%
