You can actually do a similar thing on the roof. Whilst doing a knife only run, I went through the shotgun house, barricaded the second one, climbed up on the roof and sat on the edge toward the first house. Whenever an enemy jumped up you can slash them once and they fall down, it worked for nearly the whole 4 minutes if you're close enough to the edge of the roof the lycans wont jump up the other side. One eventually jumped up behind me for some reason but it seemed to do good.

I like the sound of a no intro if it's possible. However I'm not entirely sure about starting it when you first meet the hag. I mean as far as standard is concerned, there's a lot of items and supplies and potential Lei that can be grabbed in the autoscroller sequence in the village. It is unfortunate that its just 4 minutes of trying to survive but in my opinion its 4 minutes of potential supply/money routing that you get for free.

The run starting when you get down the slope or when you pick up the knife seems like a really viable option for me, it cuts out walking simulator and starts you off right when you get into the action.

Another note is, im not sure how the save file works or whats easier, but instead of the knife start you could start the game in the basement after getting the knife, the run then begins with you moving forward and activating the first fight.

Appreciate the video for those who couldn't quite wrap their head around the guide, there's another thread with pretty much this exact strat detailed, however im very curious about your second baby encounter avoiding, simply waiting for him to come through the door is genius and actually seems faster than Ray's as you're not getting stuck on the baby

Considering I was spamming the STAKE relentlessly, which has the highest DPS I can calculate in the game (no, the handcannon and rocket pistol don't do more per shot, let alone in DPS) i feel like I would have deleted his health bar but it was VoS so. On standard or casual NG+ one cycling with no roof may be possible.

From what I understand from my own testing, using a fully upgraded stake I managed to pump like a full 15 rounds into him and a grenade, which is easily 50, 000+ damage as soon as he spawned. However, I don't think he will actually be able to die UNTIL he climbs on a roof and does at least one acid rain. I could be wrong but thats just my findings so far.

Since I dont think SRT is running just yet it might be the cheat engine

Watch the vod. You have to run in so the door closes, wait for the first footstep and run out. The game entity has already decided the baby is entering that room by that cue and you can run past it

It is rendered, it is intractable. I actually just tested it and you dont need the sniper. If you run up to the fence next to the wall closest to the red gate you can peer through a gap in the fence and shoot it with a pistol. It doesn't respond and you can skip the ladder. Nice find

I see what you mean, so instead of needing to go all the way around and use the iron key, just blow the lock, raise the tractor and run straight through. I'm sure this is achievable with a pipe bomb too for speed rather than lining up a shot, but, I'll give it a test I think

As far as I'm aware, Cursed and maybe others are working on it as we speak Trash, however given the complications with IGT/RTA and how long it takes to trek through game files to set up an autosplitter and as such it'll take some time, patience is a virtue.

I'll be testing this too, because it'll be huge depending on how long it takes to perform, for runs on casual/standard especially with enough explosives and high powered shots it could be faster to fight him (with 2 grenade rounds, 1 magnum shot 1 shotgun shot and a mine I was able to kill propeller man in about 30 seconds) however for runs on VoS or Hardcore it could be more beneficial to do the skip.

I haven't routed actual items/upgrades yet since I've just been fiddling but my weapons were standard, so if 30 seconds for him is repeatable and fits into a standard run then this skip needs to be quick to be viable.

Is this in relation to the village siege before you get through the red gate next to the red chimney building?

I may not test it tonight but is that when you first put the fuse in and activate jt? I was unaware you could simply wait for the elevator that time, if you can then in all honesty baby basement is veeery easy and quick with hardly any room for error except the couple of puzzles and line taking, feels like the zoe DLC

United KingdomXTerminator2 years ago

FYI, the first baby doesn't need to be hidden from, once you've gotten the breaker box key, you can quick turn as soon as you first hear the baby, run all the way back through the silver key room, through the study, get the relief, run all the way back to the relief door and get through before the baby gets you. Combined with Ray's strat here, you can then go grab the fuse, hide behind the door, and run back to the fuse box.

The only thing I have yet to test is how long the elevator takes to activate and open, and as such, whether or not you need to hide in the projector room or not or maybe you can loop the baby around the desk.

The fact its impressive is the one of the reasons its essential for a speedrun. Even RE7, RE2, RE3 pretty much every RE game has had the requirement of having inventory management. Yeah RE8 doesn't have quite such an impact since key items are separate, but let's say you dont manage your inventory and pick up too much stuff, its not fair to be able to sit there for 15 minutes organising your routing mistake, you should be timed on it.

Cursed, am I right in thinking RTA won't work with an autosplitter? Or will an RTA timer still be able to latch on to the game?

United KingdomXTerminator2 years ago

RTA makes sense here and is just generally the better option.

Runners should be timed on all menuing, organising, key item using, everything. There is a lot of room for error and a lot of room for route customization like RE4 given the varying weapons to be picked up, items to be used and upgrades or items to be bought.

Its a shame about the way the timer works, but if we can bottom out a standard setup for it, so use RTA with load removers. Hopefully we can figure out how the timer actually works.

Mods are notoriously good at spotting these sorts of things, most of these are ridiculously easy to spot, and those that aren't will still be picked up on. Trainers aren't allowed even for NG+.

Unfortunately not, since there are enemies and time loss on all categories with the parking lot zombies, and also on inferno there is an extra zombie near the beginning of the game; it's part of the run unfortunately.

@Phaero That's like banning the Striker just because a few people can't move their fingers in the right order to Ditman. Can't ban the tool, need to educate the people
