@mohidal Use the private messaging feature Kappa

But for real, you can find the admins of the site by heading to More > About. There, you can click on their profiles, and contact them through their listed social media. I personally wouldn't bother them, as they are busy. But if it really is bothering you, you can give it a try and pop them a message.

Hope this helps.

@mohidal You're gonna have to wait 60 days to remove the "l" from your name, bud. I'm not sure if an Admin could give you a break, that's up to them. But yeah, wait out the 60 days then remove the "l". Be careful with stuff like this next time, don't make things hard on yourself!

Have a good one.

I have never actually heard of a bounty system in the speedrunning community be used before. Sounds very exciting.

In my opinion, there's no way of avoiding cheaters submitting or participating in these bounties. Obviously, as Pac has stated, people are more likely to cheat when a monetary reward is involved; more so if the reward is more valuable. The only way to combat this would be to crack down on the verification of potential winners. I don't personally think there is a direct solution to the problem, otherwise we would've found a solution, as the same problem is shared with regular speedrunning. We'll just have to make sure we carefully verify each submission.

Lack of capitalisation is triggering me.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by restarting my PS4. If that doesn't work, just update to the newest version of the game. You really don't need to play on old versions unless you're competing for 1st, in which case you'll need Boost Boots flying.

This is apparently an 'easy' way to do Manglewood skip:

I quote unquote 'easy' because I personally don't find it easier. I find standing next to the right metal pole thing, then jumping on it as the platform rises easier. It's all down to practice honestly. Just do it over and over again until you've nailed it. I don't think you're incapable.

Make sure you're doing it correctly too. There's no point repeating a setup that doesn't work.

Personally, I like to stand next to the right metal pole thing, then jumping on it as the platform rises, then run off the edge and spam triangle until you hear yourself change into Oddsock, then stop spamming, fall to your death and respawn. I'd suggest holding left so you don't activate the cutscene, because even though you've done the skip, you still lose a lot of time by watching Marlon Random blabber on about nothing.

GLHF.

Cheers Pack.

Edit: The invite inspired, Pack. Fancy making an unlimited one?

Hey folks.

Just wanted to know if this game had a dedicated Discord server that you guys chat in? Most of the speedgames I run / like to watch have Discord servers, and was wondering if there was one for the SMB community?

I saw that you guys have a Steam Group, but I'm not too keen on that method of communicating. Also, I haven't seen anyone else talk about a Discord server here, as far as I've seen. So is there one?

Thanks!

I'd love an invite to the server, Mr. Zet! Big fan of the game and will start running soon! Cheers.

Looks like a cool little game. Good job. I quite busy with work right now, so I don't have much time to anything, but I really do wish you all the best with your game, and I look forward to seeing how runners of your game use the secret paths you mentioned to get the best times.

Oh, and welcome to the site :)

Not that I know of WeaponLord.

Why not? My guess is because PS1 games are more sophisticated than Super Nintendo's. There is a 4 year gap between the consoles after all. Also, I'm pretty sure you need the PS1's BIOS to play PS1 games, which is impossible to do on a web browser.

Hey 08bitkid! Welcome to the speedrun.com community! Hope you enjoy your stay here.

When I started speedrunning, I just found the games I loved as a kid and started giving them a go! I'd suggest you look at the specific pages on the games you plan on running here at speedrun.com. Just search up any game you'd like in the search bar! Then, purchase any hardware or software accordingly :)

Welcome to the speedrun.com community Spobble! Hope you have a great time here.

As for your questions, whether your runs get accepted based on your recording device all depends on the community. However, most communities accept any video of a run as long as it follows the rules they set in their specific catagories. Just make sure the video is watchable and has game audio :)

Hi. I just wanted to make a post here asking a question. As I am rather new to the speedrunning community, I'm quite eager to learn more about the technical stuff of speedrunning. The question I am here to ask you is:

How do you know when to start and stop a run? Is it the same for every game where you start the timer as soon as you press something like 'Play'? Is it different depending on the game you play?

Just something I was wondering about.

Thanks,

Vertigo

Hi. I'm Vertigo. I'm from the UK, and have recently joined the speedrun website.

I'm rather new to the speedrunning scene, but I have watched some runs of my favourite games, and I'm looking forward to learning more about speedrunning. Soon, I'll be running a few games just for fun (unless my competitive side comes out).

I was first introduced to speedrunning when I tuned in to AGDQ on Twitch.tv. I was watching Ovendonkey run Mirror's Edge, and from there, my interest in speedrunning sparked. Only now have I truly wanted to be apart of speedrunning, so here I am.

I hope to get to know you guys, and have an awesome time playing games.

Thanks,

Vertigo
