Due to the incorrect time being displayed on the final "Thank you for running" screen, any% runs will instead have to have both of the IL times added together manually. Final screen will still be required in the video.

Regarding IL times themselves, they're sometimes off by a variance of 0.01-0.02s. For the time being we're gonna continue to use the IGT though.

Starting today, every category is going to have its evidence requirement changed. Listed below are these changes.

  • Classic: Video evidence is required for all classic runs.

  • All Star: Top 5 requires video evidence, the rest can be a screenshot of the IGT on the Final Results screen. Existing top 5 runs with screenshot evidence will not be retroactively removed.

  • All Challenges: Video evidence is required for all All Challenges runs.

  • Unlock All Characters: Video evidence is required for all UAC runs.

  • 1v1 Ironman: Video evidence is required for all Ironman runs.

  • 10/100-Man Smash: Top 5 requires video evidence, the rest can be a screenshot of the IGT at the Results screen. Existing top 5 runs with screenshot evidence will not be retroactively removed.

This is a change I've wanted to implement for a long long time. To be transparent, in the past we've had alts and fake runs posted to the board with no video evidence to prove this outside of doing some snooping on the speedrun.com accounts themselves. There's also been numerous newly created accounts in the past that've submitted and only submitted to this game without evidence as well. This change is being implemented partly because of this and to up the quality of the leaderboard itself. Having large parts of a board with no proof at all does not look good. No proof makes a good portion of the board pointless when a lot of runners' times can't be held accountable because there's nothing to prove or disprove a time they got, lessening the quality of the board.

Whether or not runs without proof will stay up is still somewhat up in the air, and if anyone has good reasons why they should stay, I'm all ears. As it stands, these proof-less runs can't be legitimately verifiable and can only be speculated upon. Other 3DS boards are able to handle proof requirements just fine with categories several times longer than most of smash's, so I think we can do the same.

Heads up post, self explanatory from the title, but I've thought about it a while now and been meaning to just remove this rule as it's not been necessary for the full game runs and was originally just meant for ILs due to their shortness and precision. I may remove the rule altogether though, if anyone has any thoughts feel free to share

I'll be migrating runs to a new setup for the categories to get rid of the 2nd Player variable where it's not needed for certain categories, as well as removing the Characters variable from categories like Iron Man and All Challenges. Depending on how you have your notifications set up for this game, you may see a lot of new PB or WR notifications popping up during this.

If you plan to submit runs during this time, just pretend the categories that are under construction aren't there and submit as you normally would. The categories under construction will be tucked away in Misc. as to not get in the way of the rest of the board until they're ready for runs to be migrated to.

This will be stickied for the time being until it's completely migrated.

A lot of the runners for those categories with times not in milliseconds haven't been on in several months. It seems wildly unfair to expect these people to see a new sticky to retime and resubmit their runs and in turn remove their runs if they don't do this.

So I guess I got mod overnight, first order of business is removing the current runs since the flash version of this game isn't accurate being 4x faster (when it comes to drops) than the original Jetpac and 2x faster than Jetpac retro from Jetpac Refuelled, it's also not an official release of the game and this isn't a flash game board, not to mention the sprites seem to act weird.

Here are the differences between the official versions of the game- (Fuel is timed dropping from the top of the screen until it fuels the rocket and the aliens are timed from the frame they enter one side of the screen and exit the other completely)

zx spectrum(tapes): Fuel drop time - 5.508s Alien movement time - 4.7s, bounces Ship up time - 8.916s

Atari ST: Fuel drop time - 6.2s Alien movement time - 4.68s, explodes on impact Player movement speed is faster than the other versions

Xbox One (Rare Replay): Fuel drop time - 5.974s Alien movement time - 5.607s, bounces Ship up time - 8.978

Jetpac Refuelled (Retro): Fuel drop time - 2.804s Alien movement time - 4.739s, explodes on impact Ship up time - 8.01s

DK64: Fuel drop time - 2.976s Alien movement time - 4.68s, explodes on impact

So from what we can see here with the speeds the boards are gonna be separated with the consoles/versions in their own subcategories. It'll go ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, XBOX ONE (Rare Replay), Jetpac Refuelled (Retro), and N64(DK64). Unfortunately Retro and DK64 can't be paired together under one subcategory because there's a 2 second difference on when enemies disappear after the ship goes up, other than that they're almost the same version of Jetpac. Timing of player movement speed was only mentioned for Atari ST because surprisingly the player movement is the same both walking and boosting across all the platforms except the Atari ST one.

If you have any suggestions about anything at all for the game or I messed up something drop them here in this thread

So it has been brought to my attention there's an exploit that allows you to trap cop cars I'm thinking I'll just add a rule that states you can't intentionally stop and manipulate the AI into getting stuck against an object/wall, what say anyone that even checks this forum?

IF you do not want your ILs submitted to the boards please let me know in this thread, also, if I already added your ILs by the time you see this and you do not want them there let me know as well so I don't readd your runs after deletion.

After spending half of the day trying this out, it's pretty much impossible without the godliest of RNG. To start the first mission takes about an hour just by itself and you have to be lucky to get the drills as a drop or else good luck advancing at a good pace, this category is incredibly tedious button mashing for far far too long, I'm not too sure who wanted this as a category, but they clearly didn't ever try it themselves

Is there some strat or anything to going up without getting absolutely reamed by it? It seems like unavoidable damage which sucks and has gotten me killed before because of it

I've been playing this on my 3DS with gpsp and it hasn't had any input lag and I wanted to switch to using an emulator on PC to be able to record but both mgba and visualboyadvance have just the slightest bit of input lag, is this common or fixable?
