No, altho honestly im still not sure about this category. Part of me wants it to be more different, but that pretty much means getting crystal balls, which doesn't really feel right either.

Looks like 39 seconds from final hit to black screen after the final dislogue, so i will adjust the current runs by that amount.

I think your timeloss estimate is a bit off, but either way, it's true you do lose time, which i suppose makes it fair. For now it will continue to be allowed, and we will keep an open conversation about it.

  1. I have to question the "save, quit, continue" strat that Vanni has been using. It has real merit and i think it's interesting and i honestly never considered it before. But the fact that it restores your health creates an advantage. The one place in particular i noticed was on the way to crypt 8, in which you are able to restore your health about 4 screens short of the crypt entrance. Getting to that crypt is difficult and certainly results in losing lots of life, which is completely nullified with this trick. Im not saying its cheating, nor am i saying it shouldnt be used by anyone who wishes to do so, but i AM saying that it's an advantage and therefore if it's allowed to be used we should consider creating a new sub category for it. I haven't made any decisions yet but i would appreciate any ideas/questions/etc. about this topic.

  1. I will be changing the end timer to the closing of the last dialogue box which officially ends control of the game and begins the end of the game sequence. First of all, i realized after testing that you CAN indeed land a final blow on the boss, which would effectively end the timer, while simultaneously being hit and killed. This leads to a speedrun that is technically over while leaving the player needing to beat the boss again (without dying) to actually get to the end of the game. I questioned this a while back but decided to end the timer on final blow anyway. This will not change anything nor give any kind of advantage/disadvantage to anyone. All runs from now on should end the timer at the closing of the last dialogue box. I will time how long it takes to get from final blow to the new end timer and will add that time to all previous runs for consistancy.

  1. I will (hopefully) be making a tutorial video soon which will go over everything i know. It should be a really big help to new runners and hopefully also provide some new stuff for better runners.

Which brings up a few things. I don't have time rn, but soon there will be news either here or a vid somewhere.

We don't have any information as to whether any emulator might be faster than another. We are trying to keep things fair. We also don't actually have any information as to time differences between console and emu, so I'm not really sure what to do there either. As for Eng vs. Jpn, We know Jpn is faster so technically we should offer a different category for that. This is a new speedrun and we're working on it.

i completely forgot about the book, might as well add that too

As of right now i was thinking: all (unique) items , all health/bomb upgrades (i believe there are 3 of each) all equipment (swords, shields, armor). I had the thought of adding crystal balls too because any% is already rather similar to 100%, but that would be up for debate.

Edit: So yes, you would need to get ALL equipment, not just end with strongest equipment.

ok, then we'll just make inputs optional for now

thread: Neutopia

we're having a discussion about input on screen for EMU, what are your thoughts?

thread: Neutopia

Edited:

Any% Timer starts at Start and ends at final hit. Must include clear video/audio (no music) and timer. Emu runs will be done on BizHawk ONLY.

100% You must finish the game with Max health/bomb upgrades, Max gear, and all unique items. Timer starts at Start and ends at final hit. Must include clear video/audio (no music) and timer. Emu runs will be done on BizHawk ONLY.

or just all items swords armor? crystal ball ,bomb/health upgrades optional?

There's still text to cancel, which means you're still in control/playing but i was thinking on final hit too. As for 100%, what were you wondering about Momo? I assume it means all items and upgrades, no? So , for now (atleast) accepting Emu and console runs, must have reasonably clear video/audio, must have timer- start at "new game/start" end at final hit, emu runs must have input showing. 100% must get all items including crystal balls as well as all upgrades (sword, armor, bombs). Sound about right?

Yes, i will be working on this very soon. I would appreciate your input. Im thinking for now we'll only accept Bizhawk runs with clear audio/video, inputs showing, as for start/end time that'll be a little more tricky. I should be around tonight to work on this.
