A list of accepted emulators can be found in the Game Rules on the leaderboard.
Wow, that's really strange that that works. I tried dying in fountains before, but the couple I tried it on just crashed when you try to collect the star. I would personally say that 100% NSR (as it's currently named) should allow this glitch.
Is there a Discord for these games? I tried to find a link, but all the links in the other games had expired
Cool! If you have Discord, I can set up a server to discuss strats/routes and stuff, there’s lots of new stuff since the last WR
Hey Sebson, The emu ban was in effect when I started running this game. I'm happy to allow emulators, with the condition that WR cannot be on emu?
Cheers
The games are just listed as the console that the game was released on, my PB was on a Wii :)
Yeah, running on a wii is allowed, as long as you use a disc to run the game.
I'm not saying the entire run would be multiplayer, I'm saying that the Any% category only allows one controller for the duration of the run. It isn't in the rules though, so I do see where the confusion would come from, it's definitely an unspoken rule about this game, as well as most other NSMB games.
For the normal Any% category, only 1 player is allowed to be played at any time, there is a separate category (Any% Multiplayer) where more than 1 controller can be used.
It’s not a viable rule, having rules that aren’t black and white, such as ‘once a world showing more complex gameplay then just running’, makes for a bad precedent to be creating. Nobody is stopping anybody from running the game however they choose to do, but the rules of these specific leaderboards are unlikely to change. You have to remember though that Speedrun.com leaderboards are not everything, if you don’t agree with the rules that the community have decided upon, then do your own runs with your own rules, they just won’t be competitive on these leaderboards.
The rule is that there have to be two players or more at all times, but any player can be in a bubble for as long as they want.
The issue is where do the lines get drawn? You can’t ban bubbles, cause then you’re essentially saying players aren’t allowed any deaths/accidental bubbles throughout the entire run. It’s a question of enforcing a rule which is essentially unenforceable.
Most moderation in communities can be done based on trust between players (especially in games with smaller communities), as the majority of runners do not cheat their runs, however if when watching a run you notice something that you suspect as foul play, always feel free to bring it up with the moderation team.
That clip is already known, it’s what we used to do in Any%
The rules do reflect this change
Escape% is a miscellaneous category that doesn't beat the game, so by definition isn't Any%, the game is designed that you have to defeat all the dungeons to get to the final bowser fight
You can still run the game on emulator if you want to, it just won't be allowed on the leaderboards, not everything has to have a leaderboard on Speedrun.com
